Valuable lessons learned
« on: April 18, 2010, 10:08:12 PM »
Went up to arlington today to fly the magician for the first time. I had made new lines for this season, all looked good. Checked everything, engine running good, launch, flying nice, feels good, and suddenly, doing inside loops, and thats it. Kinda panckaked in. Gear bent, small crack near leading edge from gear up  and a little forward. Down line failed at crimp. Yes I know, PULL TEST, PULL TEST PULL TEST. Check. Now to get fixed before Eugene. It was very cool when we first got there, full size Extra, I think, practicing right over us, cool show. Glad his day was better than mine.

If done properly the swage method is what I used.  Made up a set of lines at the field using Carl Shoup's set up.  Have to keep swagging until you can't go no more.  Used crimped one time in a combat match and never again.   H^^
