Lets do this to kill the BOM talk
« on: March 04, 2011, 07:02:37 AM »
Join in and talk on and on but not about the BOM. I know they will say "just don't read it if you don't like it". But I keep looking for closure on this issue. There being no closure it is getting older and older. Again I know what they will say. Point is there is no hope to resolve this issue. It gets more ridicules all the time. I think Rich Peabody must laugh and laugh.

Not about BOM?

Cool !!!  y1

I'll post pics.

1) I think this is Swedish.
2) This is not Swedish. Apparently a new RSM kit. Name is Pentastar.
I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.

That Pentastar (odd name) is devastatingly handsome.  Man I like the looks of that ship.  Now if only I had a rich relative with a bad heart. LOL  I'm a sucker for anything that has an eliptical (semi-eliptical anyways) wing.  That ship just plane looks mean and out to win!  I think RSM has a winner there. H^^

Actually, the Pentastar made me think of the Stuntress and one or two other Joe Adamusko designs.

Also, Tom Niebuhr's Top Hat.

(I don't remember where I stole the Stuntress picture, the Top Hat must be from some thread here)

The "Pentastar" is Lou Wolgast's PA design, and the name comes from the "MOPAR" symbol (Chrysler Corp.). I got the impression that Lou either worked for Chrysler or is just a big fan of MOPAR products. It is a nice looking plane, as is the Stuntress. Tho Lou is "retired" to Tucson, he's from the same "neck of the woods" as Joe Adamusko.

It's interesting to watch YouTube videos of a bunch of "West Coast" patterns and then watching a bunch of "East Coast" patterns. Try it, and see what's different. Report back!  010! Steve

Having posted those racer-look planes, how have I missed the Tsunami?
http://id3420.securedata.net/speedpropsandpylons/jrs_index.html

Does anyone have a GOOD picture of the Tsunami? I have saved a few decent ones of the "full size" one but not Windy's design.

It is never too late, or early, for a good looking aircraft.

I'll post a couple of things that are not American.

There's a piece on the Stunt Design topic titled "Geodetic wing stiffness", where we get excited about the Wind Dancer.

Chuck thats been an issue since I was a kid and that was long ago and far away. How ya gonna enforce it? Put cameras in everybodys garage to make sure they build their own. If you spies to go around to see if someone else was building their own you could probably bribe th spy and if he didnt get bribed he could say you didn't even if you did. See it never ends. hmm I wonder how much it would cost to have a chinaman to build me a stuka n1 ::) n~   jim

Ok let me add another one

This was my 2006 Tiger.

This was built after I came back from the Worlds in 2004 in USA.

Another comp - same plane.

And just to clarify : This is the 2004 Model.

This model is no longer in existance due to line break ( well Unravelled from the eyelet -only happened once and that was it. )

Free hand Airbrush. 200hrs .

This was one of the 1st models I did with a tiger print paint job Finished for the 2002 season. It was VERY good. Started life with Moki .51 then upgraded to Stalker .61 then to the Longstroke version - I won 3 State Championships with this model.

I lost that model also after lending it to a fellow flyer to get a feel for something better - Vertical 8 into wind and said " I just lost sight of it "

I always prefered the look of the tiger print with Solid lines, more than the airbrushed, I felt that the amount of time it took to airbrush ( despite what it looked like..) Never gave as much of an impact as the solid lines..

This is my 2010 model - which was posted a few months ago

Im in primer stage of my 2011 edition.

Yes, that's a "young" Joe Adamusko, all right! ;D  There is also mention of "not confusing it with Frank Warburton's much earlier model".  I have never seen both set of plans together so I do not know the differences.  I can bet that Frank's was powered by a Merco .35, though! LL~ LL~

It "IS" different. y1

Ohh I wouldnt give any of them 20 points...

When you look at the quality of what has been front row 20 points before..

If you look in the judges guide - Quality of fit and finish scores high.

As my example of a couple of 20 pointers..

One more :

No no no your WRONG.. It clearly states :

In the case of rubber-powered models (excluding Indoor duration models), commercially available balsa, plastic, and hardwood propellers may be used.

Its there in black and white.

Bill : My requirements are pretty simple.......... They need to be Pretty.  S?P

All of the female models would score a zero with this old man.  They wouldn't last one day out in the hot sun of Muncie INDIANA helping me with the planes.  Now the planes are all 20 pointers to me.  And PJ if you were at the 2004 Worlds we probably seen each other.  I met so many people that year that it is hard to remember them.  The New Zealand team was the ones that let me eat with them at the banquet the first night/day.  Was after all the countries marched in if I remember right.  Have seen a couple of them at later NATS when they came over/up for speed flying.  I was the old man trying to get the vests on the F2C competitors before they got in the circle.  One young lady caught this old mans eye and I couldn't speak her language.  She was a pit person.   H^^

Something tells me that I should post this one photo that keeps appearing on cycling related forums. You can almost exclusively see it in threads containing debates on clothing. Specifically: should mountain bikers wear tight shorts which are functionally great, or baggy shorts that some find esthetically more pleasing. Sometimes the color of the tight shorts is also mentioned.

PJ, I am still laughing.  Now the post after yours reminds of a neighbor that built his plane, A full size bi-plane.  He bought a gutted out mobile home and put it in his back yard.  When all major parts were done he knocked out the end of the mobile home. H^^
