This was a Fleet Week that almost did not happen.  San Fransico, which use to be a very Pro-Military, was very reluctant to host the Fleet Week.  I am sure its citizens are now glad they did.

While in the Navy it was my privilege to be on board the USS John F. Kennedy for two Fleet Week celebrations in NYC.  New York really knows how to host the Military for Fleet Week.  It was the best port visits I have ever had, and I have been all around the world.

I wish more cities would step up to the plate and show appreciation to the Armed Services via a celbration like Fleet Week.

That MACH wave effect is something that is there all the time behind any airplane.  It's like the wake behind a boat.  It gets enough pressure to do something as the aircraft goes faster and the air doesn't have enough time to get out of the way.

It's very amazing that the Blue Angels were able to do such a thing under the bridge and at that speed without being grounded post event by the FAA!  Wish I coulda been there in one of the boats!

The gent that took those photos did a terrific job on all of them.  Like any person he thought he could do better on some.  I have always looked forward to seeing the Blue Angels whenever they were in town.  Thank you Rich,  DOC Holliday
