EVOLUTION PROP. MAYBE
« on: June 14, 2009, 03:35:37 PM »
With the shortage of props for piped engines, I call Pete Bergstrom at Horizon hobby and asked him about the Evolution props I saw at the Toledo Expo. He sent me three 14x6 props. I rounded the tips, (now at 13.80 in.) and repitched it to 4.5. This past Saturday Roger Wildman and I went to the AMA for some much needed practice. I took my trusted Bolly three blade off and gave the Evolution a couple flights. I think with some more testing this might be something to look at. I'm sure this is a heavier prop than what I am use to, but it did not change my CG that I could tell. I will work with it more this week and report on my findings. Oh, one other thing, it does not cost $57.00 like my three blade.

Blessings
Allen

I am using a 11-7 on my Saito 40 and it works pretty good. I use them on RC planes too and I like them.

I'm using a 12 X 6 Evo on my Stalker .51. It seems a great combo. I launch at 7800 here in Salt Lake City.

I have been testing this on a PA 75. I talked with Pete about them making a three blade, so we'll see what comes down the road. I'd like to try one.

I bought a 13-6 Evolution to try on a 70 ounce Cardinal with a ST.60 in it. I like the shape and thiness of the blades. I have a Rev-Up 13-6 on it that works pretty well, and the Evolution matches dimensions with it pretty closely. I hope to try it in the coming week and will report back.

They don't come in 3 blades do they?

I was on the Hangar9 website this am.
They have 3 blades in 10 and 12 inch dia.  Dont remember the pitches for sure, I think the 10 was a 4.5 pitch, and the 12 was a 6 pitch.
