Thinning Super Fil

After mixing the two components I find that the mixture may be a little thick.  What have you all used to thin it?

I found that wetting it with MEK substitute will help it spread easier.   There might be other products that work as well but I have only used the MEK substitute.

An expert finisher advised me to use Lacquer thinner and it indeed works very well . Test the amount on practice pieces as to how much you thin it
Much easier to use when thinned.

I have used Alchohol since it is or at least acts like an epoxy.  I used it to wet my fingers to smooth fillets and discovered that it was a good thinner as well.  Doesn't take much.  Side + is that a bit thinner it is also a bit sticker.

If it is not broke you are not trying hard enough.

Make sure it is anhydrous/99%, because you do not want to trap water in it. Lacquer thinner or acetone seems a lot safer, although I haven't ever tried to thin it with anything.

I never use anything but 99%.  It only takes a couple of drops to make it stick easier and flow.  Doesn't seem to have any affect on drying time.  The other thinners mentioned are probably better, but I have limits on what I can store in my office/shop.  I can get away with alcohol!

Epoxy reducer works very well.

I mix it in a two ounce cup. If it needs thinning I warm it by floating the cup in hot water or a few seconds in the micro wave. It cures slow enough to not be a problem.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.
