Jim Kraft update
« on: April 30, 2012, 06:10:41 PM »
I talked to Jim Kraft last night. He sounded good, and felt that he would be able to fly model airplanes and ride his Harley in about 3 months. I was really  glad to hear it; Jim is one of the nicest guys in this hobby.

That heart attack almost got him.

Wow; I am so humbled and blessed to read your posts. You cannot imagine how uplifting it is to have friends like you. Like Marvin said above, all because of this common bond of control line.

I am doing really well at rehab, and am up to about ten minutes on the tread mill and bicycle. I am also walking at home and at the park in between rehab. I go to see my surgeon tomorrow, and am hoping he will remove some of my restrictions.

When I was in the hospital, I thought a lot about the great times I have had with many of you in person, and many on the board that I have not met in person yet, but feel like I know you just as well. You all mean more to me than you can ever know. Thank you for being such good friends, and hope to see you at the circles before long.

Well Jim it is great you doing good.   I am so glad to know you and your lovely wife.   Hope to see you both in Topeka in a month if not sooner.  Remember to follow the doctor orders, not mine.    H^^

Jim,

Gosh, It is great to hear you are recovering so quickly! I sure hope your doctor clears you for flying soon and hope the weather treats you well when he does. It has turned hot and windy down here, but Dina and I are hoping it won't be as bad as last year. I expect to see you at Wichita...maybe sooner.

Had my visit with the surgeon yesterday, and they did a chest x-ray, and an EKG, and said everything looks good. They did release me to drive again, but do not want me flying for another 8 weeks as it takes a long time for the sternum to heal up, and they don't like the idea of the line pull on one side of my body. I am OK with that as they also told me it can be bad news that you will have to live with the rest of your life if it does not heal right. Otherwise, I am feeling really good with very little pain left. I still get a little tired at times, and take a couple of naps everyday. They said that I was still healing, and that it would be a while before I get my full energy back. I should be flying again in July so that I can practice up for Wichita.

Doc, I hope to make it to Topeka as a spectator and have some fun without flying this time. It will be great just to get together with everyone. I will sure miss the flying though.

Hey Randy; I would love to meet you too. Even if I have to meet you somewhere along the way. And yes; The McCoy 40 is still running great. That is the nicest running most consistant motor I have ever had for stunt.

Bill; I have been praying for you too. I know from what you have posted that it is not going as fast as you would like, and I am praying that the Lord will speed up your healing, although many times the healing time is for a reason, and I hope you will be comforted through it. Hang in there Bill, and keep us updated. I always enjoy your posts, and I thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the advice Doc. I am learning to pace myself, and although I feel really good, I know if I am not carefull I could have a set back as far as my healing goes. So far I am pretty content to just enjoy life. I did talk to the surgeons office today, and they said I had almost no heart damage from the heart attack. It has been just a little over a month now, and I feel like a new man.
