All Right Eddy! Congrat's on the 50years... can't believe I've known you for around 30 of those, Lisa & I are working on #24...Looking forward to seeing you at the KOI.

My minivan isn't exactly inspiring, but Lisa is always glad to see it leave.  LL~
(she would have rather I got a sporty SUV or car like your mustang than the "old man van"  HB~> )

Funny, some of the cool kids in my highschool had van's, usually had lots of shag rug, and smoke pouring out the windows.  n1 n~
Some of the murals airbrushed on those van's were pretty inspiring, you don't see that much these days... but they don't make as many panel vans as they used to either.

Saw the re-make of the A-Team movie the other day... Seeing "the van" made me smile. Hey, you can even hire that van now, or one just like it. How would you like to drive up to your next contest with your planes loaded in this???

Hi Eddy,

Now you done gone and done it.  I'll have to make really sure that Gail doesn't see this post!  She might get the idea that since she has put up with me for forty years that SHE deserves a Mustang convertible!  Wait, I can tell her that the Mustang only comes when we hit 50 years, yeah that's right!

LL~ LL~ LL~

Congratulations and Merry Christmas to you and Rebecca!

The high school is west of the grade where I do duty and you should see some of the cars/trucks those young people are driving.   One young lady driving a small green truck that is sharp as all get out.  There are a couple of ponys that have been restored.  The best one one is the flat bed pick up with the stake side boards on the bed.  I don't know if they have a shop class over at Shawnee Mission North West or not, but a lot of older vehicles being restored passing in front of me every day.  And would you beleive a young man riding a bicycle that he restored.  He said it out for trash pick up when he got it.  I guess there are a few young adults willing to use their hands for something good. I think of the song" The little old lady from Concord NC" by Jan &  Dean ~^ Well I did change a couple of words. Rebecca will be with me at the KOI as she is going to visit our daughter in Jacksonville Fl and after the KOI we will visit another daughter in Palm Harbor Fl .
Rebecca was holding my Cobra at the KOI around 1998-99 when the ST/46 motor through the crank shaft band and self destructed. VD~ Her words " what did I do"

Eric do you remember this old Cobra? It is the one that the motor blew up in.
Also The KOI 1989 Advanced winner and Old Time winner. The "Comet" a much  modified Juno #^

Bill a deer totalled Rebecca's car a few years ago so I got her the Mustang

Did someone say Dodge Challenger? How about a 1971 Dodge Challenger 440 Six-Pak. This is our Challenger Show Car. Also have a Stunt ship I made called CHALLENGER with a Stalker 51.We had many Muscle Cars over the years,Hemi's, Camaro's, Mustangs, and the kid's even build me a 71 Dodge Demon  Race Car, Stopped racing several years ago and getting back into Stunt Flying. All work on the Challenger was done by me and my two son's. Not bad for a 71 year old KID!!!!
Added picture of Demon Race Car.Picture of my sons AAR Cuda at the first MOPAR MEET At Englishtown N.J.

By the time she is done laughiing she will forget she wanted the car in the first place.

I see this got away from planes just a lttle.  I still remember my 1964 Ford Fairlaine 2DR Hardtop with 289 2BBL and 4 speed tranny.  When not on the local strip was hauling my planes to contests.  Was much easier to work on back then.  I even replace the engine at 110 thousand miles.  The planes is why I got the Fairlaine instead of the Mustang. There are a couple car I really, really wish I had never gotten rid of.

A 1963 1/2 Galaxie Sportsroof ordered off the Norfolk assembly line.  Rare single 4 bbl 427 engine w/transistorized ignition.  In 1982 I rebuilt the external cross bolt mains low riser block to NASCAR specs from 1963 but included the C-6 LeMans rods.  Even had the factory cast iron "headers".  4 spd., factory 3:25 locker.

A 1965 GTO ordered with the "factory Drag Pack".  389 3 deuce solid lifters, 4 spd., 4:11 posi.

1962 Chebbie, 409, single four bbl., 4 spd., 4;11 posi.

1963 A-H 3000, w/OD.

Can't come close to having any of those today!

Not this coming 2011 year.  The Classic Chevy International Show is in Springfield MO the weekend before Brodak's.  I will have Kathy with me and they have the Award Ceremony Sunday morning, we will drive home and then I will put the cover on the '55 and jump in the van for the trip to Carmichael's.  The Power Tour happens the same weekend and I will not do the Power Tour.  Perhaps in 2012.

Ya know Allen, that Gummint Motors Corp is offering great savings on new chibbys.  Help the economy, git a new one fer pete's sake.

They would have to pay the upgrade to own Six Bits.   Seems like the salesmen would not like that idea.  Reverse profit. Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Hi Will,

I also had a Triumph '59 TR-3A, '62 AH Sprite, '63 MGB,..........  I could get them REAL cheap around here because no one wanted to fix them! LOL!!  The MGB I got from my Dad for my '65 Corvair Corsa while he was transferring from NAS San Diego to NAS Pensecola.  he drove by here towing it behind his motor home.

Most I paid for any of the sports cars was $500 which I had made by fixing/driving/selling one then moving up.  I also had a '64 Triumph TR-4.... $450.

About the only other "hot" American cars I had were a '62 Chebbie Impala 2 dr. with a 327/350hp and 4 spd, and a '67 390 Fairlane XL.

I now have a '70 Datsun 240Z that I am fixing up.  Had it since 1985.

Most all had to be "fixed" in one way or the other, but the work was cheap (I had to do it myself) and parts were cheap back then!  I learned how to rebuild a small block Chevy before I was old enough to get a license. ;D  Grandpa raised me, and he taught me to fix just about anything mechanical.  Even making parts.  That has really helped over the years.  It took him 18 months (through a program that allowed him to "Test out of the course") to get a Mechanical Engineering Degree at NCSU back in the day.  Yeah, he really "Could fix anything"! LOL!!
