I love fun events like SPEED STUNT. The Philly Fliers are known for our mass fly after the Brodak Flyin. It is unofficial, anyone can join in and the only reason we do it for the spectators and the fact that we don't know any better!! One year we had 12 or 13 up at once for a few laps

, but it got ugly real fast. One thing I will never forget is the sound of 10 or 12 Fox .35's all running in sync from the inside of the circle!!!! Awesome
This past year I had a new idea for a fun event, but we just ran out of time. Maybe this year we will pull it off? I guarantee a good time if you enter and it should be a crowd pleaser!!
Tom Skinner is the guy who flew the pattern blindfolded using his FAI .15 ship. After he flew the pattern he let me take it for a ride on the "trainer" setting. (take the tail weight off and move the control horn to the slowest hole) I wasn't insulted at the time by any means, but I also didn't think he had to change it up for me. About 1 1/2 to 2 seconds into the flight I was thanking god he gave me the trainer setting!!!

It was a hand full for the first few laps (trying to keep up with it). Once I got the hang of it I did ok, but it took total concentration to stay ahead of it. I have to give it to the combat guys, they know how to fly!!
Junk Yard wars is another great event. It is flown during the picnic so everyone can watch (it draws the biggest crowd of the week). The rules are simple, you have one hour to build a so called "airplane" from the orange crates powered by an engine up to .25cc displacement. The kids decorate them and compete for a concours award before the official flights. The event is won by doing 10 laps and then the most spectacular freestyle wins it. Most winners do lumshevaks, snap rolls, barrow rolls, mid airs..... you get the idea. This past year we pushed itto a new level and did a Junk Yard Wars mass fly. Thats right, all three "airplanes" at the same time. Sounds easy huh?
