I enjoyed visiting with Tulsa Gluedobbers
« on: November 08, 2014, 05:11:24 PM »
We were passing through Tulsa early this afternoon and decided to stop by the Gluedobbers flying circles to see if there was any activity.  They were about to wrap up a fun fly, but I did get to see four flights put up and had some good conversations.  I really enjoyed it.

Hi John,

Thanks for the writeup.

The Gluedobbers had a fun fly today; it was dreamed up by a new member named Andre Ming, who lives in Poteau Oklahoma. We had hot dogs and chips supplied by Andre which were Cooked in an electric skillet in our clubhouse.  15 people showed up for the fun fly. (17 if you count John Fitzgerald and his wife) Quite a bit of flying went on in spite of the wind and cool temperatures.

We got a new member from Missouri, Ken Spencer. He bought a Controline Classics  Veco Renegade kit from me. We had a lot of fun visiting and flying.

The Gluedobbers had an impromptu club meeting. We celebrated the purchase of a 46" cut new riding mower which was delivered by Lee Thiel. Bob Reeves suggested that we reduce our dues to $25.00 a year. We agreed. Perhaps it will get us some new members.

John Fitzgerald and his wife happened along around 1 pm. They were just passing by on their way home to Arkansas and checked by our flying field to see if anyone was flying. (and we were!)

All in all a very successful fun fly.

Hey I know that dude!! Andre is the owner and moderator of a YAHOO special interest group called VINDURO that specializes in vintage enduro and ISDT type off road motorcycles.  VINDURO has a world wide membership of riders from from everyday people like myself to former and current factory riders and mechanics and many ISDT and ISDE veteran riders (ISDT id the former International Six Day Trials and is now called the International Six Day Enduro, and just wrapped up in Argentina.) I had a suspicion he was model oriented when I first saw his screen name or email address that had fox36x! He's sent me some photos of some combat models he has stashed away. I've ridden several ISDT Reunion Ride races with him and talked models a lot with him also. He and his wife Sharon are great people! And I think he worked for Duke Fox for a while back in the day. Glad to hear he's active in models again!  Tell him PunkinHead says hello! He'll know who you are talking about!
   Type at you later,
