Started here about 1/2 hour ago, suppose to get between 3 and 8 inches depending on how the storm tracks. I'm tired of this stuff we normally get a couple 4 to 6 inch snows a year and we've already had 3. If it isn't snowing it's raining and haven't been able to walk across the yard without getting my feet wet in 6 weeks. ARGGGGGGGGGGG

Looks like we dodged the snow bullet, never droped below freezing so what snow we got is already melted. I like it when the weather man is wrong in our favor. Still a sloppy mess but at least I can see the drive way.

Oh yeah...two seasons:  Winter, and poor skiing.

It is pretty though, even to this displaced Southerner.  About the time it starts getting dirty and ugly, more snow comes and freshens it all back up again.

We had great weather for a 4 day weekend, except Sunday was kinda misty...and it wasn't a 4 day weekend. A bunch of us flew Saturday and again Sunday, with some missing and some new faces on Sunday. It was tough, I tell ya...  LL~ Steve

PS: I don't remember that it snowed at all in the Seattle area (this winter), at least, in my part of it. But I could have forgotten something so insignificant...  y1

Well,

The South has been pretty lucky this year, but it's not over yet.  May I call you attention to March 10th 1992?
There was about 23 inches of snow here then.  I however was at a future wife's house in Hicksville Ohio.
That's about 24 Miles Northeast of Fort Wayne Indiana.  It didn't snow any there at all but it sure delayed my trip back south for a couple of days!

Jim Pollock,  I found out what it was like being snowed in while in Manassas, VA on Feb 16th 2003 - 26-28 Inches of Snow!

I'm wondering what happened to the little snow falls. Last Saturday brought 30 plus inches here and 12-18 more expected tonight. Its a good thing that a lot did melt during the week. Ken

Paul, you live, by my guess about 1000 miles south of Vermont, and we're expecting sunshine for the next few days after tomorrow.  PLUS, we can still see grass in places, this is a good winter for us, means we can start flying earlier, and last year was our earliest start ever, St. Patty's day   #^   #^

I'm just not used to the idea of flying all year round, just because of where I'm from.  I'm just enjoying the sunshine, lack of snow, and fairly pleasant temps of the upper 20s (that's for winter, not spring or summer)

Central Louisiana this year.
3 snows
Non stop rain(almost)
Non stop cold.

Flying field is currently a swamp, a cold swamp.
At this rate it will be July before I can do any flying.

Sure would like to finish sorting airplanes and training pilot(me) before Red Stick contest!

Tom,

What are you doing in Houston?

All,
Just heard that the average snow fall in Wash DC is 15". They now have had a record 56"!

Last month it was announced that Big Al is now a BILLIONAIRE, selling his science ????views.

Yesterday the newly formed Committee on Climate Control  in DC could not meet due to snow.

Today, in Dallas, it is snowing moderate to heavy with accumulation of 3" to 4" already in some areas, and it will snowing until late tonight.

Seems to me that the Big Guy from Tenn, owes us all a lot of money. He should be laughed at everywhere he goes.

Yea, well, the Church of Global Warming is a Juggernaut. Doesn't seem to matter that it's all based on nonsense and junk science.

We current have a temp of about 42° with, what else, rain. They are predicting some snow for next week, but it won't likely stick. Highs in the mid 40s, lows in the low 40s. And ever present cloud cover.

Maybe Al baby should have been more concerned about Global Cooling.

Here's the way it works:  "Climate has nothing to do with weather." (?)

If winter is extra cold/snowy, it's due to climate changes from global warming.  If winter is extra warm/dry, it's due to climate changes from global warming.  If summer is extra hot/dry, it's due to climate changes from global warming.  If summer is extra cool/wet, it's due to climate changes from global warming.  Etc., etc., ad nauseum.

 R%%%%

Well, it's like I tell the local communicants of the Church, I'm not denying that we are experiencing global warming. Seems to be at least partially true. But thinking it's due to carbon dioxide is just silly. CO2 on constitutes 3% of greenhouse gasses and man-made CO2 only constitutes 3% all CO2 (according to the several studies that have been sampling atmospheric CO2 over the past 10 years - Cow farts create more CO2). I just can't imagine how that could be running the show. Water vapor is more important to greenhouse gasses. On the other hand, Greenland was named Greenland for a reason. Hey, in the middle ages they grew grapes in Northern Scotland. It's not like it hasn't happened before. This is just a smash and grab by people like Al that want to create a scare and profit by it. Cap and Trade, anyone? The IPCC report has been proven to ignore any data that didn't go along with the conclusions they wanted, and there was a lot of it. Be nice to have some actual science --- and maybe some money to build seawalls.

OK, rant off.

Paul,

In the interest of "full disclosure", the weather guessers are threating 3 to 4 inches of the dreaded "Yankee Virus"  for the Montgomery area; the attack to begin after 2400 hrs. tonight and continue through a significant portion of Friday. :'(

Where is Fat Al when you need him??? ::)

Randy - You might want to check your percentages on the CO2. I have seen much lower numbers from several competent sources. More like 1/2 of 1%. At any rate, we need to understand that CO2 is an extremely important gas, and the arbitrary label "greenhouse gas" makes it seem as though CO2 is a pollutant. Pollution is one thing, CO2 is another. Some of the climate scientists even call CO2 a "trace element"n the atmosphere. Ed

Ed,

Yea, no CO2, no Trees, no food.

The estimates were certainly high. That, I suppose, was the point. The primary figures came from Univ. of Illinois.

I'm telling you, it's a smash and grab.

Four to five months of constant snow cover isn't unusual for those of us in the frozen tundra.  Now that the February sun is stronger we get some melting of that snow cover even if the daytime high stays below freezing.  This loads the air with moisture.  That means fog.  And when fog freezes...

It pounded rain here this morning, then all of a sudden, about noon, big sun break (what we like to call a Blue Hole). Sunshine for maybe 3 hours. Clouds came back in and it was overcast the rest of the day, but pretty nice while it lasted. I took advantage and rolled my new lines out in the driveway to make them so I could wrap the other end and get them ready to fly ... when we have weather for that sort of thing.

As I tell people at work that complain about the weather, hey, it could be worse. We could be in DC.

===News Flash===

In unsubstantiated reports, scattered sunshine has been reported in the Puget Sound area. US Weather services claims that this rash of sunshine will continue through the weekend and into next week. Local population is warned not to look directly into the golden orb. Sunglasses and sunblock are recommended. Don't let the cool weather fool you. This is dangerous and seldom seen phenomenon in this area.

Ed,

Yea, no CO2, no Trees, no food.

The estimates were certainly high. That, I suppose, was the point. The primary figures came from Univ. of Illinois.

I'm telling you, it's a smash and grab.

Univ. of Illinois is where William(Bill) Ayers  AKA the  “Weatherman” bomb thrower of the 60s & 70s is education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and writer of Obama's book "Dreams".

Univ. of Illinois also runs the cyrosphere site that is currently hiding ice cap growth with snow cover claiming snow cover is only shown in recent images.......What about Greenland some might ask?

Saul Alinsky of Chicago and friend of Al Capone wrote "Rules for Radicals" and was mentor to some of our current leaders.

AMBER ALERT!!! Al Gore is missing!!! LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

Now I know why it is to cold and wet to go fly....... HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~>
I like it warm and my garden likes about 20 times more Co2.

Disclaimer.....
When I bring this up on Socialist sites like RC groups the radicals like to kick me off.

I don't see a problem, but then I think it would be neat if Algore went missing. Just wish he would leave behind the 500 million he has banked since screaching "Your SUV is killing me".

>>What about Greenland some might ask?<<

I find it interesting that the ice shelf on Greenland is receding somewhat. As a result, researchers have been finding the remains of communities (probably Viking). Seems that would indicate that the ice has receded before, no? Or did the Vikings dig through many meters of ice to build communities. Seems unlikely.
