Help Identifying Planes
« on: July 25, 2020, 12:36:17 PM »
Hi all. Long time, no post, but life had just gotten in the way and I had to take a step back for a bit. Anyways, I had aquired these two combat type planes this week, and was wondering if anyone may be able to help identify them. Mainly the red and blue one with the 'diamond' airfoil.

Red and blue one is 22 1/2" wingspan. Kind of thought the picture of the 'booms' to teh elevator may help with an ID as they are different from the others I have seen. Very nice build.

The other one, black and yellow is a piece of 1/8" x 4" x 24 1/4" balsa with a hardwood strip for mounting controls and stiffening, 3 small pieces of hardwood as 'booms', and a piece of 1/8" balsa as an elevator. Thsi one I vaguely recall being designed locally for fun 1/2a combat, but again, could be wrong.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

The slab wing plane looks a lot like a 1/2A combat plane NVCL used for a local contest in the late 1980s.  Designer may have been Ron McNally.  Event called for Cox Reed Valve engines and .012 x 35' lines.  I do not recall the stiffener.
