Many years ago, back around 1970 I was stationed at Wright Patterson with the SAC unit. The bomb wing was the successor to the Doolittle Raiders wing and they had a collection of mementos from the Raiders in the SAC alert shack. I was lucky enough to gain access to the alert shack a couple of times and view the mementos. I believe when the wing disbanded the items were transferred to the AF Museum there at Wright Pat.

The Doolittle Raiders just had their reunion at NMUSAF in Dayton, Ohio. Eighteen (18), B-25's were on hand, one of the largest gathering ever. Of the 80 Veterans of the mission, only eight survive and FOUR were able to attend the Reunion. Grimes Field, Urbana, Ohio, was the area for practicing formation flying, selling rides, and picture taking. Early Saturday morning, They flew to the Museum's airstrip. When all had landed, they lined up and opened the tarmac to the public. The "Raiders" were on hand to give autographs and attended the viewing of "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo". (FREE)The USAF, "Airmen of Note", also gave a free concert one evening of all Big Band Music from the 40's.(ALSO FREE) The next day, during the Memorial Service, the B-25's took off and had a formation fly-over. Memorable experience! YES! I got all their autographs! Many pics & a few vids too.
Icing on the cake was driving home on the Interstate, to look up and see 3 Wacos, a Stearman, and a Citabra flying directly overhead.  #^

"Tight Lines!"
