I work with a group of local kids, teaching them to build and fly Half-A control line planes with Cox reed valve engines. I supply all materials, engines, and so on. Our favorite glowplug clip is the one shown in the attached photo, but I can't seem to find any more of them. The ones available now are larger, and don't fit as well. Does anyone know where to buy them? Or maybe some of you might have one that you no longer use? I would like to give some to the kids so they can use on their own when I'm not there. Thanks.

How many clips are you looking for?

I offered those links because buying several of yours from eBay may get kind of pricey as your desired count goes up.
I bought a pile of 1/2A Dubros on two cards a few years back. They were gifted out on CEF. I may have a few left.

The home-brew laundry clip one can be made in batches as needed, and gets you pretty close to the Perfect one. Tin cans can be salvaged to make them on the cheap.

I'm looking for 5 clips right now, since I'm just starting over again with a smaller group of kids. Until we can hopefully grow to a larger group soon. Then, in the fall, I'm going to start working with the local schools.

The black plastic clip and the red plastic clip shown are recommended by many, but do not fit the Cox .049 well. It is difficult to make the correct contact with them. The lower part is too thick to fit between the fins of the glow head. And they come off with vibration from starting. The yellow plastic clip with flat copper fingers works OK, but is more difficult to clip on and off. The metal clip made by Perfect is the best one because it is easy to clip on and off, and easily makes the correct contact. That's why I am searching for some of the 1/2A clips made by Perfect.

I have 5 with your name on them gratis...if they will suit you. I will say they would be easier to remove from an engine IF an enterprising individual assembled them with a piece of all-thread and nuts on either side going across the clip (instead of the cross-screw). That would give small fingers the purchase needed to use a thumb on the "wired end," and index/middle fingers squeezing said all-thread/nuts pulling the clip to the thumb.

take the rad one and grind off some of the bottom clip until it sits level when clipped on. That works very well for me.

Correct all you have to do is put the bottom part of the clip down on the cylinder and these clips work great.

Highly recommended! In 1961, when I got my first glow motor (a DC Bantam, one of the worst glow motors ever made in Britain or anywhere else in the world), I had a Cox glow clip which soon broke. I made a replacement from a wooden spring clothes peg and some scrap brass. I'm still using the same one on my .049s.

I've seen people use the yellow one, and it was shorting out the battery. The top clip that sits on top of the glow plug pin, if on an a slight angle, will also touch the top of the glow plug.

Pretend the toothpick in the following pictures is a suitable size all-thread or cut-down long threaded screw. This will make removal from the engine much easier.

I've been too busy lately to determine the "cross-screw" size. Where did you order it?

Really, only one nut should be needed as one half of the clip gets threaded from the screw turning in, with the screw head pulling the two halves together. Even one quarter inch sticking out each side would make the clip easier to attach/remove.

Jim suggested a longer cross screw in the DuBro clip. I did that in attached photo. Works fine. 4-40 all thread.

I made a LiPo unit for the glow plug clip. Bought a power supply with adjustable current limit and voltage on Amazon, made by Drok.

I mounted it to a 1/8" hardwood sheet and added a switch. Runs all day, starting a Cox engine more than 50 times.
