fuel
« on: July 18, 2008, 12:17:08 PM »
Would someome check me on my math please.  I have a fuel that is 20% nitro and 12% caster in a 1 qt can..  If I add 5 oz. of caster this should be about 15% nitrp and 23% caster----I think..
Any math people out out there???

A quart is 32 oz (I hope!).

Currently 20% is nitro, or 6.4oz.
12% is castor, or 3.84oz.
rest (68%) is methanol+synthetic+ "extras".

Now if you add 5oz of castor, you now have 8.84oz out of a total of 37oz of stuff, or ~24% castor, and 6.4/37 =~17% nitro, assuming that you simply added 5 oz to the total. Also I assume these are volume measurements.

This is close to your numbers.

Much would depend on if the 1 quart can were full or not.

assuming it is full you are starting with 32 ounces volume measure.

12% castor works out to .12 x 32 = 3.84 oz of castor.

20% nitro works out to .2 x 32 = 6.4 oz of nitro.

3.84 of castor + 6.4 0z of nitro = 10.24 oz leaving you 21.76 oz of meth.

21.76 oz meth divided by 32 oz (total mix) works out to 68% of meth.

Adding 5 oz of castor gives you total mix of 37 oz and total castor of 8.84 oz

8.84 oz castor divided by total mix of 37 oz = 23.891% castor.

6.4 oz of nitro divided by total mix of 37 oz = 17.3% nitro.

21.76 oz meth divided by total mix of 37 oz = 58.9% meth

If you want to mix in the quart container  subtract the amount you pour off and do the math again.
