Flying Models Magazine
« on: November 15, 2012, 07:10:36 PM »
Well! Well! Lat night I went to my mail box and found much to my delight and surprise my October issue of Flying Models! I am delighted with this turn of events! There had been some disturbing talk about the demise of this fine publication but lo and behold its back! This issue features a fine presentation by Will Hubin in his covering of the Brodak FlyIn of 2012; plus another great column by Alan Brickhaus! I hope that this presentation is indicative of many more to come!

Received mine Wednesday. Hope it continues. Would be a shame to see it go. I have a year left on my subscription. Enjoy every issue.

You didn't read the great combat report?   For its size it is one of the greatest magazines around.

Flying Models is putting out a nice on-line magazine too.  More stuff than will fit in the paper magazine, and cheaper to boot.  Something like $14.95 a year.

Phil, I just checked the FM website and it listed the print version at $37.95 a year, the digital version at the same price, but both for $47.95. Did I miss something? Even if there's an online  "supplemental" version with additional material for a little more, I'd probably be interested...

Me too Paul, but you're missing out on what is by far the best flying model mag that is published outside a SIG organization.

As a side note, us C/Ler's should all be helping support Flying Models magazine. They always have C/L articles of some sort and outside of our SIG publications it's the last true "modeling" magazine out there. I look forward to every issue. y1

Amen to that!  H^^

I'm only an occasional C/L sport, or half-A flyer, and FM is the only model mag I buy these days!

Half-A Flyer was interesting in my opinion, but was only published for two years. Now, Bernie at Cox International is picking up where Blackhawk Models left off, and email subscriptions are now free. Naturally, there will be some advertising in each issue, but that's a small price to pay.

I paid for a digital subscription to FM two weeks ago but so far have been unable to read the current issue online. Several inquiries as to how long it takes to get things started have gone unanswered. They took my $38 dollars real fast though!

October issue finally arrived here.  Now awaiting the (overdue) November issue.  As much as I like and support FM, if this type of delivery continues I will not be renewing.  Living on a small fixed income, I can't afford to waste money on a product that won't be delivered.

I remember when I was a kid how hard it used to be to get a copy down here.
There were a number of good mags, but FM was my favorite.
There was always something about CL, the columns about combat and stunt, and the plans, oh boy, i loved the plans directory, used to make lists of the models i'd build one day...

I'm going to get a subscription very soon, was just waiting to see what was going to happen since you guys were not getting it delivered.
But it seems to be ok now.

That's excellent!!! #^ #^ #^
