I've just renewed my subscription to Flying Models and want to remind y'all again that it's available at a great price - $15 for a one-year new subscription or renewal. Publishers make subscriptions like this available through what I'll simply call "back channels" in order to keep their circulation up: bigger numbers, better advertising revenue.
I go through Greg Murray in New York - who I don't know from Adam - but I started dealing with him 3 or 4 years ago and don't hesitate to recommend him.
Some points: Send payment or inquiry to gmurray711@aol.com (he accepts PayPal). Expect to wait 60 to 90 days before the subscription starts. He can't submit a renewal for you until roughly 60 or more days after your initial subscription. If it's a renewal, be sure to specify RENEWAL. And watch the label on your magazine, which includes the last issue of your subscription. (Flying Models messed up one of my renewals and initially sent me 2 issues per month, but recognized their mistake and made it right.)
If the price sounds too good to be true ... it's Not! When I managed a publishing company, we received several lists each week of "discount subscriptions" like this offered to keep subscriber numbers up. The general public simply doesn't hear about them.
