A little help
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:59:09 AM »
Ok I have a mo best profile powered by a Ro Jett .40 RE and it turns great down, but when I turn the plane up it feels like it's coming off the line almost stalling out. Does anyone have any idea's or has this happen to anyone else?

Thanks in advance

Ty,
If the flaps aren't level won't it make the plane hunt during level flight? This plane is rock solid at level flight both right side up and inverted flight.

I had a plane doing that one time, and I moved the leadouts back a smidgen. That cured my problem, but I think it just masked something else that was off somewhere. Sure made the plane flyable though.

Every surface is in line. The plane weight is 53 oz power is a RO Jett .40 on muffler pipe. This week I plan on flying so I will check the leadout position. Level flight both up right and inverted wings are level and it tracks well. Do you think mybe it's under power or larger prop?

The RO-Jett .40 should pull that weight and not even grunt.  Mine pulls a heavy weight Accentor with no problem using the Windsor or Thunder Tiger 11 1/2 X 4 1/2 prop.  All synthetic 22% oil and 10% nitro.   H^^

-  Check the flaps again to make sure they are aligned with each other.

-  Check the elevator/flap adjustment to make sure that the align at zero-zero.

-  Check the elevators to make sure they are aligned with each other.  (I know this one sounds silly, but I have seen on many occasions, with good/carefull builders, the elevators are not aligned and will cause the problem you describe.

-  Try sealing the elevator hinge line, then seal the flap hinge line.

-  Adjust the elevator/flap trim.  First put in down elevator with neutral flap.  If that makes the problem worse, go the other way.

-  Play with different leadout positions.
