First flight in 35 years!
« on: April 24, 2011, 06:32:12 PM »
First flight in 35 years ;D ;D
Flying the Brodak trainer with my son and daughter, april 24.
Three flights with no crashes, but boy were we ever dizzy ~^
My daughter was the only one who wasn't dizzy.
Next planes will be the baby clown (just needs final paint) and my super clown (just needs final assembly covering and painting).
Now, i need to figure out how to add pictures! :-\

Thanks for the tips Ty! I<m encouraged to know it only took you 5 flights to get rid of the dizziness.

Actually, if you walk backwards in a small circle rather than standing in one spot, you will not get dizzy at all.

Welcome back to the world of fun and entertainment. You will be in a full size stunter real quick. Go get you a ARF Oriental and a good .40 for it. You will really get into this stuff. Get the kids into a .25 size plane and they will enjoy greater flying skills. Half A stuff is just too rinky tink. It is fun but hey the real accomplishment is in the larger planes. Get a copy of the stunt pattern either from Stuka Stunt Works or Brodaks and you all go learn to do some basic maneuvers. I started flying again on Memorial Day weekend 1999 after a 20 year lay off. I am still just an average builder and an Intermediate pilot. At age 65 I am not likely to get much better than I already am. I have built some 25 or 30 planes in the past 12 years and still have about a dozen of them flyable. So expect some crashes. Learn to scratch build. If you are building a kit then get enough balsa to scratch build a second ship along with the kit. I got a Brodak Legacy for this past Christmas. I looked at the kit and put the plans on the wall of my hobby shop. I scratch built a .40 size Legacy from the plans with a foam wing insert. I will get enough balsa to build another .46 size plane along with the kit when I get started building the kit Legacy in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile enjoy some great fun.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!  #^
My number one objective is to get my two kids to love the hobby as much as I did when I was young.
My second objective is to catch up on the time I lost during 35 years! ;D
Looking forward to cranking that fox 35 on my super clown y1 y1

This is awesome, Danny!  I took an 18 year layoff, got dizzy, (dizzier) for a bit, got over it, then tried getting back into speed limit combat and got dizzy (dizzier) all over again!!!!  That was in 1989 and I've never looked back, so enjoy those young people and the planes!! y1 #^
Blessings,
Will
