Finally Finished!
« on: July 10, 2020, 12:34:11 PM »
This modified Dreadnought sat idle for over a year collecting dust until the Covid-19 virus forced me to stay at home like most of the world, and little by little I chipped away at air brush touch ups, panel lines and final details.  It has a Bob Hunt foam wing and stab, covered with .5 ounce glass cloth, finished with Klass Kote epoxy paint and a 2 part Nason auto clear.  Its powered by a Merlin Series PA .75 with a K-77 CF Muffler and an 8 ounce clunk tank.  When I started the build over 2 years ago I could not obtain a header or pipe so the muffler had to do.  Now I have to wait for my back to heal before I fly it, darn yard work caused my herniated disk to act up.  I see a doctor on Monday, getting old ain't for wimps!  Tight lines!!

The plane looks great.  Hope your doctor can do you good.  Mine requires me to wear a back brace now doing yard work and flying my planes.  I await a good report for you. H^^

Spectacular Don! Gotta love a good KlassKote finish. Hope your back heals up quick and your maiden is a successful one. Can't wait for flight reports.

Don,
That's really gorgeous!  Hopefully we'll make Huntersville so we can see it.
Hope your back improves soon.

Looks real nice, Don. I'm trying to figure out what you named it. Looks like "DUNAMIS"....maybe. What's the 411 on that?   LL~ Steve

Thank you all for the compliments and the encouragement to get my back straightened out!  I blew out a disk in my mid thirties doing dead lifts and it flares up every couple of years when I do something stupid.  I wore a back brace last week while flying, but I think it was too late because after the third flight with my electric Vector my back was shot.

Steve the 411 is:  "DUNAMIS" is a greek word from the Bible meaning the explosive power of God.  Our english word "Dynamite" comes from it.  I just hope it doesn't end up exploding like my last stunt ship that I named "Vertigo"!  It took Gus and I several minutes to collect the pieces to put them in a pile so I could take a photo of the remains!  Stay safe and healthy guys!

Don.  Not Gus, me and I crashed my Tucker in the same spot one week later. Tucker was very old and had old style controls that gave up.

Sorry Ed, I was a bit distraught the day I destroyed my best flying plane. Gus was there wasn't he, along with Keith?  At least the spectacular crash had an audience!  Ok Joe you can come down to Huntersville and trim it for me!  Thanks Derek and Motorman!

Don.  Looks like you opted for top equipment, and a great high-pointer finish.  Get well, and do well in contests.

Thanks Floyd.  I figured I would go all in on at least one plane, but I still hold the handle so.......

Thanks Fred.  Compliments coming from a master builder and finisher means a lot.  Your work is incredible and I hope to be able to do panel lines like you some day.   I'm still learning and making a mess of an old profile that I practice on!
