Regarding this latest scam .... The first email I received did have the correct email address. The further correspondence used the correct address (in one word)+@gmail,com. You don't notice this until the correspondence starts to stink. I don't know how its done. How can someone send an email that looks precisely like its from the party, but obviously isn't? This is not a Nigerian scheme, it seems he knows the players and connections.
The first one of these scams that hit me was a response to "wanted to buy" ad I placed in the Classified section. I got and email from Sparky suggesting I contact a certain person at email jeffposseltt@outlook.com. I did. He had the part and wanted $ for it. Please send me an Apple gift card for the amount. OK. Two days later, he discovered that he had mispriced the item. Something stinks, but what the hell, I did. Two days later, another email, he forgot to include shipping. STOP. Once again ..... the original email looked precisely like it came from Sparky. The other thing of interest was that he knew what the value of the part should be. Interesting.
I found a car parts forum that had a problem with the same individual. I filed a wire fraud report against the name, jeffposseltt@outlook.com. Any dealings with this email should be avoided.
Bill, you understand html's, and such ..... how can an email be sent where it looks like it came from someone else?
