FAA/AMA New rules

FAA announces new small unmanned aircraft rules.

The FAA announced new rules that will go into effect August 29. We are pleased to share that this rule maintains an exemption for recreational model aircraft operators and codifies parts of the Special Rule for Model Aircraft. In fact, the rule affirms Congress' intent that the FAA not promulgate any regulations on modelers who satisfy all of the criteria in the Special Rule.

Control line, to register or not to register, that is the question.

My initial reaction is not to register because I do not necessarily trust the faa with my private information.

Being a government agency my guess is the FAA is a target of anonymous and other mean spirited groups. But that is me. I am very glad to see sanity to some degree prevail in the final document.

For now, I'm going to fly under the radar in a responsible manner.
