In a nut shell, the two groups do not want special advantages given to the model airplane hobby. They feel that drones are to be sanctioned only by professional groups. All this is in the recent MA mag. One needs o read several articles to find this out. In a recent discussion with a person involved in the Ag usage of Drones, the group feeling is that Civilian Drone hobbyists are a source of dangerous flying. Far too many users of professional Drones have had way too many episodes with unregistered and totally unaware drone users of a Drone are being regarded as being dangerous and should be forbidden to use these toys in the public air spaces. In a local Big Box store recently I was in line behind a man buying a $400 drone. When I mentioned to him that he should have his name and aircraft registered with the FAA he told me right out what I could do with that idea. After he left I asked he checkout person if he was supposed to mention the registration to a buyer, the man old me to mind my own business. Maybe the clerk was right. Twenty years ago I tried to get involved with an argument in a gas station, and ended up with half of my right leg no longer able to function. Huge, professional organizations will win out over us toy people. The house and the Senate will lean toward deep pockets, not a group with fairly good safety history every day.
I SURE HOPE I AM WRONG!
