Hello
I regularly check Jalopy Journal as it is a great site for those that like old cars and felt I must share this:

https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=45486

Color good quality pictures of any competition meeting from the 1940's are hard to find  .
These old Hot Rods/Racers remind me of our vintage model airplanes and the passion people have for them is similar.
Interesting to see the WWII gear and vehicles like post war airplane meetings, also interesting to see most people are slim and mostly young, no-one is wearing shorts and the contrasting and vivid colors of the clothing and cars that would not be as popular today except for the 'retro' crowd.
My oldest car is a 1960 Chevy Belair but I must say I find the appeal of an even older 40's or 50 car is very high especially as they cut the speed limits and the aesthetics value is more important then performance, plus they will fit my Viking and Ringmasters well enough.

Regards Gerald

It may not be CL, but I love the drop-tank car - nicer than most of them! Thanks for the picture!
