Welcome aboard, W.W.!

While some object strenuously to the "all-caps" posts, the most important reason not to is just to keep it in reserve....so that when you are really PO'd about something, you can pull the pin and really let loose the barrage...and we will therefore understand that you're exceedingly browned-off at whatever. Or maybe just a habit, from writing G-codes, M-codes, etc.?  Z@@ZZZ Steve

Dry transfers (rub-on) have limited shelf life.  Have you tried them yet?

Back in the early '70s, I used a product called Letraset which was available at arts and crafts stores.  They came in many sizes and were great for putting your name below the cockpit, "NO STEP" on the flaps or whatever you wanted to print on the model.  You just positioned the letters and rubbed them off one at a time with a little stick, I believe.  They stayed down very well.  I never had one come off, but I can't remember if they were sprayed over with clear dope or not.

I also used "Letraset", mostly to make new plaques for recycling trophies. It didn't always work very well, and I also figured that the reluctant sheets were elderly. Can't imagine than any NOS would be less than 20 years old, since the need pretty much went away with the invention of the PC and graphics software. FWIW.  H^^

Well thanks for all the welcome aboards, as far as the all cap's go, typing is not my thing.

For me it was just easier. Anyway, as far as the lettering goes, they are all in as new condition.

All of them I tried worked perfectly. I have been using dry transfer lettering on all my ships for the last twenty years

including letrasets. The sheets are 8"x11" ranging from about 1/8" to 2" tall, letters and numbers in forty different fonts.

And yes they do need to be covered in clear. As far as price, about two bucks a sheet. I would like to recoup my 225.00.

Thanks W.W.

This would be a good spot for a pic.  The mods might move this thread to Classifieds.

That's a good point, I did not put this post on here to try and sell them. I only wanted to let my friends know who are on here.
Someone asked how much I wanted for them.

Thanks W.W.

Wow Warren, You really did come across the mother lode all right! Very impressive pick!!! I've used Letraset for many years in my graphics arts printing career and with some clear coating to fuel proof them they'll be great for model building. I can't wait to see them go to use on your next builds.

Last evening I watched Warren apply several examples of the "rub-on" lettering from his new collection.  I can report that they worked as advertised with no problems.  For you naysayers, doubters, & critics, they rub on with very little pressure (I have used the same brand of about the same age on open bay areas, silkspan & dope finish, with no problems.)  They do require being covered with clear, and two or three light coats of clear butyrate gave as much fuel-proofing as needed.

Do you really mean that you actually saw Warren using those rub-on letters?  I hope he is not already dipping into the stash I have ordered.
