A video of some of the Planes of Fame Museum's aircraft departing for the Reno Air Races. I don't know if all the planes shown are really racing or just being part of the air show display.

I looked at their home page and they only listed a P-40N in their collection so some of the planes shown might not actually be part of their collection.

   I'm a little brain dead right now and won't remember all the names, but the September Fury and the Tiger Cat aren't owned by the Planes of Fame but thoose planes and the others are based out of Chino, California, I believe. I think it's the same guy that bought Rare Bear? The P-40C was a new rebuild by Fighter Rebuilders, Steve Hinton's side operation. I forget who the owner is but I think it was a survivor from Pearl Harbor. Dredged up out of the water or something like that. The paint scheme is typical of P-40C's based as Pearl in 1941. I read about this in one of the full scale mags in recent history. If Chris McMillin sees this he can fill in some blanks, he lives in that neck of the woods. Sometime in the near future I want to make a trip to Chino for the Memorial Day Weekend airshow. There is a write up on it in one of the mags on the stands right now or in the last month or two. I have a burning desire to see the Northrop N9M Flying Wing fly in person!

 The Tigercat and September Fury were Mike Brown's and were sold over the past few years. I know Rod Lewis has the Tigercat now and probably 'Fury too, like Dan says above. I'm not sure where September Pops ever ended up, it was Mike Brown's other two-place Sea Fury that was for sale too.

 Rod is from Texas and is apparently a multi-giga-bazillionaire or something, he's bought a BUNCH of big money Warbirds in recent years. He also owns "Rare Bear" and I think two other Bearcats as well and the list goes on and on...

 For those who follow the Warbird stuff, the F7F 'Cat was "Big Bossman" in it's previous dark navy paint scheme. It looks pretty cool in it's new silver paint, and I think it's even accurate for some sort of test bird or something, but it's almost a shame that they changed it. If you ever saw that plane when Mike had it, it was absolutely immaculate and spotless everywhere. I saw the plane a few times, once at Reno in 2008, and it blew me away each time by how perfect and detailed everything was...

   The guy flying the Tigercat, John Penny has won the Gold at Reno 4 times I think in Rare Bear. Hi daughter, Heather, is a former Air Force F-16 fighter pilot, and was airborne flying caps over Washington on September 11,2001. She was sent to intercept Flight 93, and having no armament at all on board, was prepared to ram the airliner if necessary. We all know what happened and it wasn't necessary, but how would you like to have to make that decision? She then went to escort the President back to Washington. She's got one heck of an answer for when the question of "where were you on 9/11" gets asked! Hats off to her!

The prototype tigercats(the first 2) were "natural metal finish" with a white nose cone and a big "TEST" on the side of the nose.  I think that the new nose art is much better! Great video and thanks for sharing.  Man what I wouldn't give to be able to fly one of those.
