Need help on Super Zilch plans
« on: September 14, 2011, 06:01:17 AM »
Borthers!
My old friend, Ted Gritzmacher, called yesterday looking for plans for the original Super Zilch.  He is specifically looking for a copy of the one which is not the Berkley kitted version.  Apparently, the kit version had the ribs thinned to fit more into the balsa sheet.  The original has the thicker wing according to Ted.  I told him that I would send a note to the Brothers on the SH site to see if anyone could shoot me a copy of the plans so I can translate them to ACAD to enshrine them digitally.  Anyone out there?

Hey Pat; I would also be interested in this. See my post in Old Time Stunt. The Berkeley plan does have a very thin wing, and as such, is very hard to build light. I have never seen plans listed for either one except for the Berkeley plans I have in my Galaxie kit.

Not only a thin airfoil, but the single balsa spar is right in the center of the rib.  No strength there!  I built two from the Berkley kits, and both folded wings on a loop.  (only one plane was mine, but I built both).
