Do you fly all your models?

If you posess multiple models, do all of them get flown regularly, or do some just hang on the wall?

When I have a stunt plane, I fly the dickens out of it.  I have a bunch of combat planes that are too frightening to fly.

I have several - but usually only ever have 2 planes per season that are in Comp spec trim.

This year being the exception - with only 1 in Comp spec - however the engine is out of that currently.

I've given a few of the older ones away to make space for newer fleet - I do also have 3 that are Unflown  ~^

I think that is a more interesting question : Do you have planes that remain unflown for various reasons. - The only reason I have 3 that are unflown is becasue the engines they were built for stayed in my comp ships and were serving well - I would need to pull it out and start the trim process again for that I need time. Most of my time is spent building. I've got a new one getting close to paint its for the 2012 season.

I wind up flying almost everything that is flyable. Usually 6 to 8. Most of the wall hangers and floor sitters are busted up and in need of repair. Might sit like that for years until the mood hits. Or. I realize the obvious, "it ain't really that bad." To quote Dan Banjok's benediction, a benediction he intones over every crash I've seen him witness. No matter the height of the balsa dust, kicked up at impact.

I have two that I can fly. A Smoothie and a bi-slob. I do not fly the slob much. A lot of my models are in various stages of repair and or refurbishment. My shop is full of unfinished models. Looks like I am like many of you.

The airplanes that I have hanging are mostly very high time and retired. Since the '60s I have never had a backup competition stunter.

My "Top Hat" is now 10 years old. I am building two new stunters and hopefully will have one completed late this year. The only active airplanes I have right now are the "Hobo" prototype. the "Curtiss Swift" that I built for VSC, and the "Jerseyan" which is about 6 years old. I hope to fly the "Sea Vixen" soon.

Unfortunately I will not make it to VSC. I will have eye surgery next Tuesday (cateracts), the other eye will be about a month later. That puts it right at VSC time.

When I was flying a lot and trying to be somewhat competitive, I flew mainly just my "contest" models.  Occasionally I would fly a Classic ship to see if I wanted to fly it at a meet.

I have not flown since "Stuff Happened", but I will have three new planes, at least, to work out with.  Two "PAMPA Class" stunters and a Classic stunter.  Plus a profile or two for that class.  Going to have to start back slowly, though.

Back in the day, I flew everything I had as often as possible, but I can no longer do that.

It depends. I have a couple of very capable planes that just hang on the wall. Backups, I suppose. Usually there is one plane I fly a lot, a couple of others that get some flying and some that just hang.

Hopefully, this year I will get all the unflown planes flown.   Running ideas thru my head  for stooges for the combat planes and planes without wheel/landing gear.   Ringmaster marathon was the most flying I did for 2011.  Also I am getting tired of sanding on the P-47. H^^

I don't have room to store airplanes I'm not using so usually give them away or donate them to the club raffle. Right now I have 8 that I fly as often as I fly which isn't allot. Two profiles both with Saito 40's, two PA ships with Saito 62's one Classic ST 51, OTS Ringmaster Fox 30 and 2 carrier airplanes.

In my part of the world, good weather days are scarce.  Flying time is much less than I would like. My building time is steady and constant.  Therefore, my "hangar" contains at least 25 planes, ready to go.  There are at least 3 that are still waiting for initial flight.

Out of the 6 I have, 3 are flown on a very regular basis.  My first plane, an ARF Smoothie is a flying deathtrap, where even the glue seams are popping loose, so that plane has been stripped of everything and just hangs on the wall almost like a museum piece.  My profile Fw-190 has become a trainer of sorts for anyone that ever wants to learn how to fly.  my little cousin has taken a flight on it, and we should be getting him more air time this year.  My ARC smoothie hasn't been flown since Brodak 09.  The Ares I still fly on a semi-regular basis, but I haven't flown it since the NATS.  That plane is almost like an old friend, and it's still fun to fly.  My Oriental Plus I still fly on a regular basis, since I've spent quite a long time getting it in better trim.  The Trivial Pursuit I will get back to flying come the spring, but I haven't done much with it since it crashed.

I have 9 flyable Sport and scale models, I was able to fly all 9 last year, however some ony flew once, while others flew lots of missions. I generally have 3 or 4 that flown a lot while, the others are flown once or twice enough to keep the motors and systems working.

No, I dont. And the last couple years I was flying the worst ones the most instead of just practicing with my better contest planes, much to Fitton's dismay...LOL.
Couldn't help it, just hard to give up trimming on a lost cause.
But hey, I learned a lot, it kept the mileage off the good planes and it just feels that much better when I do get around to flying them.  LL~

I am like Chris,  I fly one for each class; AMA, Classic, Old Time, and Profile and the older ones mostly hang on the wall.  I will occasionally fly an older one if the need or desire arises

This past year I had reason to fly one of my old AMA stunters (21 year old airframe, still looks good, ST-60).  It was revealing how many trim changes I made based on what I'd learned and a warp that somehow crept in over the years.

At last count 25 models hanging on the wall that are complete and RTF at a moments notice.

About 6 or 8 of them flew this past season.

400 or so to build yet. ;D

All are flyable, 7 large PA planes, many classic and Old time planes, I have every airplane I've competed with.  I usually only fly one competition airplane until after the contests are over then spend the time experimenting until the snow flies.

I have an Impact on skis for the winter flying.  It has a PA 40 and Pipe just like it did at the 95 Pasco nats...

All are alive and well.

Chris...

HI Little Brother!

I did that same thing for a LONG time.  Now that I only get to hit local meets, I try to fly one plane in Classic/Nos. 30 AND PAMPA class.  Saves room traveling and I am not getting practice time so not having to switch works out well.  I might even built a Profile to meet all three classes and use it as a back up/bad weather flier.
