Difference between the SV11 & the SV22?
« on: October 13, 2009, 04:17:45 AM »
What is the difference between the SV11 and the SV22 stunt ships, please?
Which one would suit the PA75 better, or would they both be ok?

SV-11 is for 40/51 big block size engine and pipe combo. SV-22 is for 61/65 big block engine and pipe combo. Per Randy Smith. I had this same question for him 2 weeks ago and called him. The fuselage on the SV-22 is larger for the bigger pipe and the tail is enlarged to control the larger props. I think that is what he told me in a nutshell. There is no kit for the SV-22 only rib sets, but there is a kit for the SV-11. He list the Katana SV-23 for the 75 size engine.

Edit: To put in big block. The SV-11 is too big for the U.L. Merlin 40 per Randy.

Hi Russell

Curtiss answered this basically, the SV-22 EXEL is much the same plane as the SV-11, The  22  has a little more side area, a longer tail moment, a stab with more area and the fuse is wider. You can put a 75 in either the 22 or SV-11  I would suggest using the new SV-11 plan as it is updated for that, the Katana and several other ships I have will all work well with a 75 such as the Evolution

Regards
Randy

Thanks very much for the replies.
I'll be using a PA75 on muffler.

I have 2 home-builts (60" span) with the 75 on muffler in both and the PA pulls them round beautifully.
One model is 65oz and the other is 72oz.
They both 4-stroke in level flight and just hit the 2-stroke over the top. Sounds magic!!!!
I had 60s in these models at one stage and when I fitted the 75, what a difference!!
More line tension through the maneuvers doing the same lap times on 68' centre to centre. (5.3 secs/lap.)
