derogatory remarks about this site
« on: July 16, 2007, 08:49:10 PM »
It varies from day to day but there is from 150 to 300 on line at a time. I am tired of people intimating that no one comes here. It is becoming  more popular than any other site. So if I continue to see theses type posts they will be deleted and so will the poster.

Who can complain about the number one site for control line?  Bill keeps me in check when I try to post something I shouldn't.  Thanks for the site Sparky and all the administrators.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

I do not know who or what you are talking about which really does not make any difference. This much I do know as a fact.

It is really nobody's business or concern how many people visit this site, except Robert's. He seems to be happy with the numbers, so if you are not happy I would suggest that you find a forum where you are more satisfied. You will be better off and those of us who enjoy this site will be too.

I guess I haven't been looking in the right places, I haven't seen anyone complaining, except for the "pretty quiet because of the Nats" thread which I don't think is "that type" of post you have in mind. Sometimes such distractions are best just ignored.

Sparky
I have to agree with Ray.  The "Pretty quite because of the NATS" was an indication that the people who check in to Stunt Hangar are real fliers, not just talkers.  They talk a good flight then go do it. Our friend Joey is a good example.

For the record, my U/Tronics units were listed on another site for almost 6 months and had 142 hits.  It has been on Stunt Hangar since Dec. 1, 2006 and has had 329 hits so far.

Thanks for a great site Sparky.

Robert,
I wouldn't worry about any nonsence. Site is fine. Just remember, celebrities and movie stars have to deal with this all the time (although considering the money they make, it may just be worth it).

I found this site late last year as well as some others {and we all know the one that stands out as most petty and political}. We may not have the quantity of posts as others, but the quality of information found here is exemplary. Our members are knowledgeable and helpful to those who are not {like me},and are gentlemen. What more do you need?

Just for the record, is this aimed at me?  If so, then just remove me from this site. If you are so touchy to not realize I was just commenting on what seemd to be few quite days and was trying to get some postings going, then so be it.

Ty, it was me that brought up your thread, but as an example of the nearest thing I had read to what Robert was referring to, but knowing it wasn't it.  No-one would take your thread for anything more than the innocent observation it was.  I'm sorry I mentioned it, I wish I had made it clearer that I wasn't setting it forth as a candidate for whatever Robert had in mind.  Don't blame him, blame me, but please know I had nothing negative in mind at all.  Just another example of my poor judgment I guess.  OK?

I usually come and read most every day.  I don't post much because I don't know that much as well.  Anyway if anybody don't like it don't come here.

Simple for me.  I use to frequent a couple of other forums, not like this one, but because of the goofiness and political baloney, I just don't go there any longer.

Here.  I read often.  I enjoy and appreciate the information the pictures, many have photo albums on other sites and I have bookmarked them and go and look at what others are doing.

I have learned much and look forward to getting back into building.  I have a twister and a banshee and they ought to be amazing once I apply what I have learned here to each one of them.  Ought to be pretty cool.

Thanks everyone for your input and know us lurkers are out there and we appreciate all you do for us even if we're mostly quiet.

Best to all

Not really to hard to figure out why they are here making remarks. With the recent closing down of that "other place" they need somewhere to go to get the never ending bile out of their systems.

I am not sure what this is referring too, but for me, (and I am certain, many other regulars feel the same), this site is "THE" Number 1 Stunt Site and the "ONE" to be a member of no matter how many people come here.

Stunt Hangar has; No garbage, is well moderated and presented, great hi res pics, support for embedded video, monthly prize draw, great stories, friendly atmosphere, no bias against any particular person or retailers (that I am aware of) and run by a bunch of great people. Keep up the good work Sparky and his team of moderators.

Thats my 2 cents worth anyway.

Bill,

I dont remember who it was that started the thread Sparky is referring to, do you?

I dont see the point of making comments about the other forum.  The thread is directed at people who post here.  He made no mention of the other forum.

Yea, I always find it funny that people will come to site like this, that Robert has so graciously provided, then gripe about it. If you don't like it here, go elsewhere. It's like people complaining about what is on TV. If you don't like it, change the channel or turn it off. What's the big deal?

I suppose some just like to gripe.

Yes, good points.   It seems that forums can get into trouble allowing too much griping.   I sympathize with forum hosts, both in terms of the huge amounts of work involved and the criticism they receive.  Also, when it becomes necessary to delete a message or a subscriber, I'm sure it's no fun.

Thanks for reading,

I like this site just fine.  I just didnt see the point of making the comment about the other forum here on this forum.  That is all.

I have edited my comment.

The other forum was wide open.  Most subjects open for debtate.  People couldnt do that so it finally got shut down.  So there you go.

Doug,
So the bile in your message is not representative of the bile on parade in that other now dead forum?  How about the logic, or total lack of it?   Aren't you embarrassed to post a message containing such obvious, pathetic nonsense?

Kim Mortimore

No I dont think so.  But just to keep you happy I changed my post.  It is more direct with no side comments.

The parade on that forum was there because people cant respect their freedom when asked to do so from a computer keyboard.  That is also why Sparky and Bill and others have to play net police over here to keep it civil.  It was a wide open forum for debate on just about any subject.  The people who abused that are the ones who got it shut down.  I am not one of them.   Thank you.

Yea, I understand. If we could have civilized debate on stuff, just presenting our point of view and accepting that other's views may be different, we wouldn't have a problem.

Right, As I said it is gone because of such actions.  People cant debate openly without taking offense or delivering it.  That only leads to headaches for the people running it.  It also got people who posted their "slotted" into a certain crowd.  And believe me you dont know the half of it and you probably dont want to.  I wish I didnt.  So, gone it goes.

I have no idea what is being inferred here.

I SHUT DOWN THE UHP FORUM.  I shut it down because it was a distraction for me.  No other reason.  I just want to fly and keep things positive.

Other than that I think it is great Sparky has a successful alternative to SSW in place.  SSW has become a shark attack to anyone as perceived as being an outsider.

Hmm, no politics.... No negative statements allowed about Stunt Hanger (and I've never made one, I happen to like this site), but feel free to blast away at other sites. FWIW I think this site is great, BUT the "no dissension allowed" kind of bothers me. I also don't like some of the crap I read on SSW but I think Leonard does a pretty good job of balancing open debate and shutting down a topic when it gets too personal.
As for the alleged "inner cadre" I've never experienced it over there. I've posted questions, not all good ones, and gotten helpful response from former national champions, published authors, and "regular Joes." NEVER a rude or condescending reply even if I deserved it. I've also never seen posts "over there" about how much better they are than Stunt Hanger, and I like that. Guess what? I read Stunt Hanger because of the airplane information. Same reason I read SSW. I don't give a rat's whatever what people think about the other board, but hearing about it is kind of getting old. Both sites are useful, and I don't see the need to criticize either. It's not a zero sum game. Live and let live.

cheers,
Ken

Please don't blast other sites here. Most already know the score. I started the thread because of what was said and you would be shocked to find out who said it. I just sent a message to those who will try to undermine what I am doing.

Let me add one thing here. This site was started to help those who are not of the top 20 caliber build. I have not made the top 20 yet in flying. (I will in time) However that being said I can guarantee this I am in the top 10 % of the builders of the world and as far as speed I haven't seen anyone as of late that can hold there own against me in speed, fit and finish. I have my own Ideas and they work for me. If you want to know what and why just ask. I have no secrets except hard work.

The change of direction in my style should yield a better flying finish the next time I'm at the NATS

Dennis,

I love your quote, it pretty much sums up the critics.  Most of the hardcore C/L critics I have encountered burn less than a gallon of fuel in a year or two.

Robert,

Keep up the good work.  I for one appreciate the Stunt Hangar and wear my T-Shirt with pride.  I will buy a soda for eveyone who attends the Memphis Stunt Classic and wears their Stunt Hangar Tees.

The last little bit, I have not been able to check on here as much as I usually do.  Life just has been in the way a little bit.  I usually try to stop things before they get out of hand.  As it is, I hav not seen everything lately.

With growth always come some growing "pains".  In the past, and especially in the beginning, this site has been about building and flying model control line stunt planes.  It has morphed a little beyond that, but that is still the "Mission Statement" of the site.  No flaming, no politics, no defamation, just CLPA.

I know things will get sidetracked, and people will get to joking, but the world of CLPA is what the site was set up for, not to discuss people, or other sites, or our opinions of how thing should be.  Simply building and flying.  Of course that would get stale and boring if something doesn't come along that is realted to "us", but we should never lose what made this site take off like it did.  Mainly that was because the discussion of certain things, politically derived in CLPA are just not allowed.
