Dave Rees Control Line Plans
« on: May 11, 2012, 02:01:57 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if the late Dave Rees designed any other control line models than the Talon? Thanks, Mike

Dave Reese had at least two stunt ships published:

T-38 Talon in Flying Models, April 74

Dazzler 40 in Flying Models, Nov 66.

Both are spectacular looking airplanes.  He captured the look of the T-38 which is not an easy thing to put those lines into a competitive stunt ship.

His Dazzler is different than most.  It has an upright engine but is probably one of the better looking upright engine designs around.  And you would have to see his paint scheme in color to appreciate his talent for putting form, shape and color into an overall striking, attractive airplane.

He also did a 6-page article, "Tank Designing and Building", Flying Models, Jan 77.  This is probably one of the most definitive articles published on building tanks.

He did a great article, "Light Weight Cockpit Details" Flying Models, Feb 75.

All of his articles are a worthwhile addition to a serious builder's library.

He is/was a meticulous builder and a very capable stunt pilot. His airplanes flew well, always receiving top appearance points.  I think he got a bit frustrated in not placing higher in stunt contests, so he applied his talents to scale free flight where he was quite successful in that venue, and he has a number of really nice airplanes published.  It was our loss when he stopped flying CL Stunt.
