Completed the clear
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:34:00 AM »
Here it is all painted cleared and ready for final assembly.

What you see here is 42oz. Should finish out 62-64. Old one was 62oz and it flew good so should work very well.

I still have to glue in the flaps and elevators, and the Rabe rudder.  Then add the drive train and wheels, wrap the lead outs and it should be good to go.

Thanks Robert.  It is unbuffed right now.  The shine is pretty even all over I might be able to skip buffing it out.  Wouldnt that be nice!  ~>

Glad to see you finished it, Doug. Nice topcoat. I wish I could do one that didn't end up with bugs in it necessitating a buff out.  :)

Ah yes the bugs!!!  The clear I used was kicking in 20 minutes, not fully hardened but setting up some.  Not much time for bugs to get to deep into it.  But they do get on it.  One thing I do is the moment the clear is where I want it, rarely does this happen, I turn the plane over.  You would be surprised how much this keeps the top clean of dust and bugs and general junk that is floating in the air.

Awwwww, that plane sucks. Just kidding! I went by Doug's and
checked it out on Sunday, looks great. With a Saito 56 in the nose
and weight in the low 60s it should be every bit as good as the
original Furias, which was pretty darn good.

Walter,

The first one I did several years ago was awesome on a 56 and I thought it was every bit as good as my 2s model and better in some places, more stable on corner exit.  So I will try it again and see.

You should try bolting the new .62 in it.  Those motors totally rock!
Thats such a cool looking plane, you should shoot some video of it in flight to post here!

Steve,

I had money for a 62 when I sold a motor.  But then I dragged my feet for so long finishing it and the 62 wasnt out yet the money ended up going elswhere, bills, diapers, food, and just general crap where money always seems to go.  But I can see a 62 somehow getting its way over here soon....

I might be paying Breezepay a visit real soon....  :)
