« on: January 29, 2012, 01:46:38 AM »
Annette Elmore posted this link on Barton so credit to Annette.   Sirotkin,, Spacehound, Grondal with AMA Special and US team member Dick Williams with the Caudron.   Seem to remember that someone else actually built the Caudron which Dick flew at those world champs.    Any good memories out there?

The fellow I know that has built a lot of variations on the Caudron over the years is Frank McMillan.  I don't know that He built the one Dick Williams flew but It is possible.

DICK Williams! Man what a guy. I met him in 1955. He was one of the original gang @ Dynamic models. lets see there was dick, Dave Jesse(killed with Hi), Kieth story, mace, jack ivey, hi johnson, and myself. We were the original gang.  Dick was a great guy he let me drive his car on the runways at contests. Cool when you're 14.  y1  I never heard him speak ill of or to anyone. He told my mom she was the best cook in the world. He came to dinner one sunday, and I have to admit mom was really on her game desert and all were perfect. Dick was so impressed next time he came over he brought a big bouquet of flowers. I mean it was huge! yep dick was a great guy.  rip all of ya.        jimmy

When I talked to Dick while preparing the Electra for publication, He related that when he went to the Worlds in '64, that his model came up missing during the flight over. He wound up flying a Caudron for the meet, It was a borrowed plane from one of the other team members.
