 Welcome aboard! H^^

The Shoestring and similar designs aren't real fussy unless you want to overthink it. For a safe first flight, just make sure it hangs nose down at least 30-40 degrees when you hold it or suspend it at the wingtips by the spar. Beyond that, just trim it to your liking. Have fun! y1

Yes Chad I do.

Do you want me to scan the plan?
Have un built kit if you need tracing of ribs or other.

I have a shoestring that lost the inboard wing.  The ribs were obliterated.  But the leading edge and training edge survived but off the airframe.  If you could make me a copy of all of the inboard wing ribs I would be forever in your debt.

I know I don't post much but try to read some each day here.

Thanks for considering this.

Hi W.D.,

I would love it if you could scan the original CG VooDoo plans. I have a rib/stab template already, but the original plans are very nostalgic and I'd really like to see them if you could scan and post them without too much trouble. Thank you...

Bill, I think you may have been referring to the post after mine--

Can do!
Bill
I built the 2nd to last Shoe and gave the last away!
The good news is the man i gave it to lives 1/2 mile down the road from me and has not built it yet!
If we are care full about how they are sent and what program they are printed with should be able to send them through the net with out size changes.

I do have some outside work to catch up on while it is not raining as it is supposed to return to raining next week.
If you do not have/ see them by middle of next week reach out and rattle my cage!

Guess I should start tracing the parts for these old kits as I build them.
A Sneaker or Tom Tom is next on the list to build. A Shark 45 soon as I can find a big engine I like.
Been eyeballing the Sterling Mustang also!

Guys
Being back in C/L is being more fun than I ever thought!!!

Sending them through the net would be fine.  Thanks for pursuing this for me.  This plane has been down a long time.  Would be cool to get it going again.

Thanks

Just so everyone knows, The plans for the shoestring arrived in the email box in 3 pdfs.  This will allow me to rebuild on of my favorite planes.

Many thanks to W.D. for the plans.

Should make evenings and weekends pass better this winter.

Thanks again

G'day folks

Remember that Brodak is now producing a rework of the Goldberg Shoestring, the design for which, I had an interest in.

Cheers, Geoff

Wow Bill!
So glad you received the plans!!!

I can not take credit though as I have not been able to send them yet!!!!

My guess would be that Geoff sent them, just a guess.

If they are full size then it should give you the ribs????
If not I can still send tracings of kit ribs early this week if nothing goes wrong.

Chad
Will be scanning and sending Voo Doo this week also.

The best news of all for me at least , is things dried up enough to put in 6 flights of novice pattern yesterday evening! #^
If the wind will stop later today hoping for a repeat.

Rain supposed to start again tomorow. ''

As planed, rain = plans. is that good planing or what?

The condition of plans is not very good and of 2 double kits only have the one set.
A good example of what my bugs like to eat from the old kits although they mostly leave the balsa alone.
When they get the paper they usually get the decals as well, they missed desert this time so posting that as well.
Opening with pic& fax viewer show as plan sized.
Opening with Paint makes close to full size?!

Wish they were in better condition for you.

May take several post to upload.

Great job, W.D.!! Lots of memories as I look over these plans.

Some might say I'm crazy but I remember 110 mph with a G-21 VooDoo using a mechanical stopwatch. Believe it was with an 8-8 so maybe the turning was negatively affected. May have been .015 lines.

We put 6" booms and a Nemesis stab on VooDoos in the early 70s in Detroit. Made it competitive--

Thanks again, W.D.

Chad
110 mph would be in the ball park even on .018s
Streamers would drop speed from that more than you would think.

Some were claiming 120+

Me never worried about flat out speed as much as does it slow down in the turns?

9x6 props were just about as fast as 8X8s and would run circles around the 8X8 brigade when engagement was made.
I love the reasoning of going level to out run the opponent, all opponent had to do was fly higher than the one running away.

Looking at the kit while putting plans back, and making sure NO BUGS!, I noticed how silly short the tail booms were!

OTHER KITS
Fliteline(?) Sneeker.
If not being produced  can trace all parts and scan plans.

Sterling Mustang profile.( gave a Yak away years ago, probably still not built so will try to track it down?)
If not being produced  can trace all parts and scan plans.

VECO Tom Tom
Can do same for this one also.

I plan on building these last 2 soon.

Any interest?
