Remote Glow Plug Connection

I have ordered a couple of Hangar 9 remote glow plug adapters and plan on using one in every plane I build.  The issue of safety by keeping my hands away from the prop as much as possible. is very important.  My glow plug igniter is a snug fit on the plug and takes a bit of effort to remove once the engine is started and I have never been comfortable with that.  The remote unit will be a vast improvement.

Mine always falls off as soon as the engine fires on side mounted engines.  Sometimes the engine dies because of that.  The locking mechanism wears out fast.

I have used the same thing since I remember the 9 Lives Cat 1.5V ( Eveready telephone battery); modified Alligator clips or the clothes pin style clip by hanger 9. I have used the remote on my cowled R/C 4cy engines though... Good safety tip!

with inverted engines. This is a quality product and the safety
aspect cannot be overstated. This item comes with lengthy
wires, so I cut them, shorten them and resolder. Total weight
is .5 oz. A ridiculously small weight penalty to pay for the added
safety of this system.

Hey, I only have one arm that works.  My mother-in-law asks what the hell I'm doing.  Wife says he's gonna fly a little before dinner.  But, he's flipping an engine with the only hand that works!  A Saito 56.  Is he nuts?

I got a chicken stick for Christmas that year.  Works great for reeling in the lines.  Mother-in-laws.  Can't live with them.  Just ask the father-in-law.

And the difference between an in-law and an outlaw?  The outlaw is at least wanted by someone.

The most remote glow plug setup is the one sitting at home 'cause you're currently flying your diesel.    

The old 9-Lives battery (I used two in parallel) and alligator clips worked...you surely were not going to take off with them connected. The alligator clips were a little tricky with some half-A engines though. Many just pulled them off after the engine was running...others carefully disconnected the clips.

My favorite is still the clip-on KWIK-KLIP type previously made by various companies. 

Actually, remote setups make more and more sense as engines get larger and more powerful, and props get stronger and sharper.

The unit I bought has a clip and wire that goes to the glow plug, a separate ground wire that goes to the engine mounting lug and a socket that goes through the fuselage wall that accepts a male pin on a lead that is connected to the glow igniter.

The plane is a Seafire MK47  with a PA 75 and belongs to Yves Fernadez, and I think the remote glow lead set is for a Ofna gas car and if you go to tower hobbie and look up part #LXABJD you should find it for $14.39.(remote glow lead set) here is a pic of it, resolder a difference clip on it and your good to go,I'm sure the clip is a body clip from a 1/10 r/c car also,and I got the pic of the plane from pampa pic gallery.  very nice plane.

I finally made it home after my 8 day tour of Asia.
Here are a couple of pics of my setup using the Hangar 9
remote glow plug connector. A quality product that
I would recommend. The larger wire at the top of the
first photo is the adapter for the nicad glow starter.
Plugs into the nicad and then into the socket in the
side of the fuse.
