After the Kim Webby Martin Baker 5 WW2 fantastic fighter, has anyone from anywhere ever built a scale or semiscale stunt version of the amazing Aussie CAC CA 15 Kangaroo?

After the Kim Webby Martin Baker 5 WW2 fantastic fighter, has anyone from anywhere ever built a scale or semiscale stunt version of the amazing Aussie CAC CA 15 Kangaroo?

I do not have any pictures of the few attempts I have seen to do a semi scale stunt version of the CA 15.  In most cases, they look like a bloated P-51.

Looks like these blokes had a go , but got the wing a bit thin .



 

Apparently you blokes wouldnt let them have a R 2800 , so they had to go for a Griffon .



Of course there was no shortage of R 2800 s lying around in the Pacific , so seems a bit suss .

Think the Diheadral on the tailplane might get a bit awkward . F2B . said on the Beaufighter it was to slow the controls - get rid of jumpyness .
Mr Dykes Wyvern he said he thought it unevened the turns . But opposite to what youd expect . Easy on a profile to crank the tailplane , and find out .
Try it flat ( on say a Profile 40 sucker ) then whack the ends UP , of course having made prior allowance ! Then youd have a direct coparison .

Like the P47, huge fuselage compared to the wing. When made as a stunt ship (with smaller fuselage) just doesn't look the same imho.

With a Big fuselage , if its well shaped , its displacement of the air is supportive , just ask Benjamin delmar . sideways the gee Bee has no wings
but itll hold ' knife edge ' indefinitely . Id thing the roound engined  C A C would likely be easist to get to work right . But the diheadraled Stab. bothers me .
untill Tested .

Tho they both look darn good . And all those Adamisins cant all be wrong . But a ' little test ship ' profile , say with a .25 . to hack about till perfected dimensionally
might save a bit of grief  before going ' full sized .

Having the underside radiator thing detachable , like kim's . with maybe a removable wing - You could easier get fuelproofed the inside of the DUCT .
hurricane and P-51 Ive made the thing a DUCT , so its only skins . I believe the flow channed through there leaves a wake . if the duct interior is DESIGNED
rather than left to chance . therefore its pretty much just a skin , and enhances ability rather than interfeering with or impeeding the ships capeabilty .

the important thing is getting a bullet proof flex free durable elevator control system , without a dramatic weight penalty .


You can use 1/8 wire , bent thus . with brass tube silver soldered onto the ends , with a saddle strap too . Or steel tube welded ( and bushed )
or maybe heat and flatten the ends , drill , retemper , & bush .With say 2 in long wires to pushrod end , 3 / 32 wire or even 3 mm but longer ,
you use torsion / bend - to alow for the slight misalingnment angularly , through the range of travel . If its been tried and tested ON THE BENCH
untill absolutely free moving , Before even thinking about it ' In Place ' . LEAVING the BENT PUSHROD ENDS - 90 Deg , up at the diheadral angle
two or three inches long , you get to ' fine tune ' the pin alignment ( same trip with bushes . a few inches is easier to eyeball than 1/4 in.  -
Align bush before cutting to length . The ends'll likely want twanging radially for for a relaxed ( stress relieved ! ) ' SIT ' in the bushes .

AFTER its all working hunky doorie on the work bench . Test rig in true alignment . Cut the pushrodd ends down to the instaled length , THEN
youve glue getting in the joints fitting it up to worry about .

SEEING someone MENTIONED THEM , in the 2nd line of the first post !  They designed one for single cylinder engines !

MB 3 , 4 , 5 are essentially the same airframe . initial Contract was for three aircraft . But delays using perfectionist craftsmen caused time escalations .

As ' WE ' dont often trip across this DRAWING , we thought it had better be got .

In fact I think the FUSELAGE SIZE is of no cosnsquence . Provideing its considered a an aerodynamic entity . It is the WEIGHT that is the CONCERN .

So some time spent whittling up a plug , and your in buisness . Als egg crate & plaster method likely quickest . cardboard on central dual hardboard .





Stuffed full of wallboard plaster afet screwed up paper ! Cheap . Or Chip Board from builders skip at timberyard , laminated . Planed and rasped .
Well accept POWER TOOLS may be slight advantage time wise here .





Would be similar proportions for the Scale C A C Stunt .
