Wrentham, Massachusetts Contest This Weekend

Just to remind everyone in the North East, the Wrentham , Massachusetts ,
"Mass Cup" contest is this weekend, September 10 and 11.
It will be held at the usual Wrentham Fair Ground area.
Saturday will feature OTS and Classic.
Sunday will be all PAMPA classes.
And we've got something special brewing but you need to come out and see what it is
"cause we're not telling anything here  
We got Tropical Stormed out of the Lee contest two weeks ago
so this is the last and only New England Contest left.  Looking forward
to seeing you all.  Try not to miss this one !!!!!

I would hope that the flying surface is asphalt as a grass surface would be mush from all the rain. Perhaps people should pack thier Galoshes

We 've had 2.5 inches of rain over the last two days.
The weather is expected to break out on Friday with some sunshine,
and Saturday and Sunday looks to be a nice window  or
good weather.  Won't know wind conditions until Friday night.

Flying surface is on grass, but it's not mush.  Dave Cook and
crew have vowed to mow close for good grass surface on at least
two circles.  It should be a great meet.

 Weather for Mass Cup is looking to be perfect stunt heaven conditions with warm temps and light breezes - 5-10 mph.
  Both Saturday and Sunday.

            I had plans to make wretham this year but health matters interfered.I WAS LOOKING FORWARD to the lee Contest but the weather was not with us.

Saturday had good attendance this year (classic and OTS). We had some new people compete, which is always great to see.
Also had some friends return to competition as well.

Sunday had good attendance as well, with competition in all PAMPA classes. The winner of each class went on to compete for the Mass Cup, and each winner worked hard for both their 1st place position and in the Cup fly-off.

In remembrance of Mitch Lilly, the originator of the Mass Cup and contest, we flew one of Mitch's ships. I'm glad I took the opportunity this year to take a turn at the handle.

We had a moment of silence on Sunday for those lost in the 9/11 attacks, and those lost fighting terrorism.

Thanks to the Judges who worked hard both days, and my fellow organizers who made sure that everything went well!!

It was a great contest, every day, we had Stunt Heaven.   Dick and I had electric power systems.
Dick Carville's Raven, a big airplane, was very impressive and had plenty of power, more so than
the Super Tigre  60 he had in it last year.

Dick Carville's Raven, a big airplane, was very impressive and had plenty of power, more so than
the Super Tigre  60 he had in it last year.

I would disagree. The model did not exibit any power related issues when it was on ST60. The new powerplant is heavier so that might have given an impression of more power due to higher pull. 

You also forgot to mention that you flew an IC powered classic model on Saturday and in my opinion had better shapes and bottoms! In my opinion, you should have beat him.

A better pilot makes it look good regardless of the powerplant.

Anyways, it was a blast to see the familiar faces! It's been a while since I've made it to the field.

I think Dick got tired of maintenance issues on his ST60's. Plus it gave him the chance to try something new. The pusher prop on the electric motor has increased the pull, according to Dick. He also is greatly enjoying not having to wipe the oil off his Raven after each flight. It is very convenient for him to put in a few flights near his house, less gear and less noise.

ST60 are not getting any manufacturer support, that's true. For me the most fun that day was trying out a 1/2A combat ship. What fun! What rush! I can see why you combat junkies like your sport so much.
