Small Washers for Cockpit Details
« on: September 04, 2017, 06:30:11 PM »
I have a DVD from Windy Urtnowski on cockpit detailing.  Windy describes making toggle switches using a very small washer and a flattened pin.  I would like to make some of these details for my current project, but I cannot find washers as small as the ones Windy uses.  The required washers are somewhat smaller than 2-56 washers.  Does anyone know where I might find the smaller washers?

Try here?  It has been a while but I ordered stuff from here before.
https://www.microfasteners.com/

They have 00 brass washers, possibly other stuff  I didn't check all the categories.

Joe,

Some HS carry HO scale train nuts n bolts. That stuff can get really small. Small plastic tubes from HS also, but you would have to cut the ends off to make washers.

Good luck

Phil,

I visited MicroFasteners' web site.  It appears that #00's are what I am looking for.  Thanks for the lead.

Avaiojet,

The suggestion to visit the local model train shop is a good one.  I will do that first.  Thanks.

Thanks again to you both.

Joe,

One more thing, not washers but, On line you can find many photos and art of instrument panels. I actually did just that and printed the panel on gloss photo paper.

Light and looks great up close and from a distance.

Good luck.

Try visiting your local beading store.  You may be surprised at what you find there.

I used silver beads instead of washers on my toggle switches.

Scott,

You forced me to put this up. I got those beads all over the place here. You can paint them.

 Joe,

I mentioned printing sheets. I have a few sheets that I printed for my Jet Cockpit left over.

If you think you can make use, I send it along.

Here's a look.

Joe,

Probably the last photo I'll post for a time, we'll be loosing our electric power because of Irma. Couple of weeks probably. Not sure?

Just to keep the Thread going. Here's where I used that printed sheet. The cockpit build is at CFC Graphics.

Scott, Here's a few photos, I don't have many from early on only recent photos when I decided to do the build.

Just balsa and 64th ply glued together with CA. Drew them out on paper first.
