Elwyn and I left Waynesburg this morning and stopped to eat at the Waynesburg Airport resturant. My western omlette was good. Elwyn says that the turkey sandwich is better than the bisquits and gravy.
Classic ,Nostalgia, and Clown race.
I saw 75 flyers entered in Classic and Nostalgia. (you had to pick one or the other)
Clown race had 11 entries. I walked around the field looking at airplanes; saw a Brodak Skyraider, a Thunderbird 1, aTony, a Stilleto, Strathmoor,Ares, and a few ARFS. I also saw an airplane named Sticky Buns. (shades of Locomotive Breath!)There were a lot of beautiful airplanes and talented flyers.
I stopped and talked to John Tate, who is an old racer. He flew Goodyear racing, and flew FAI team race in 1984 with Lewis Swindell as a partner. John now flies electric stunt.
I ran into Larry and Ginger Scarinzi, and spent some pleasurable time talking to them.
Walking around, I saw a bunch of controline items for sale. Tom Martin had a table full of engines which were reasonably priced, and some rare and semi rare kits. Jack Sheeks had a table full of reasonably priced engines, some kits, and a built Beechcraft Staggerwing scale airplane for sale. John Saunders had some engines, kits, props, lines, and a box of stuff for sale. Pete Hermans, Doug Benedetti, and Bob Brookins had a few engines and some airplanes for sale. Joe Gilbert had a PA .75 , and pipe for sale along with some Bolly props for sale.
BMJR models from Sharpes, Florida had some built up models from their kit line sitting out on the grass. There was a Profile Nobler. a Red Reinhardt Stuntwing, and two Hi Johnson's Stuka's sitting there. All of these kits are available through Brodak.
Moving along, I saw a trailer with Norine Armish's country artwork on display. She had pictures and decorated artwork for sale; she was there with Her husband, Ken.
Bob Krug was selling Powermaster fuel. I stopped and talked to Bill Mohrbacher who is the president of the model engine collector's association. He says they are starting to get new members who are collecting the glow engines from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's.
Flash! Joe Gilbert and Tim Stagg won Foxberg Expert! Joe also placed second in Classic Expert. He was 1/2 point out of first place.
It was another day of being mistaken for Dee Rice. It's one of the hazards of being named De, I guess.
I walked over to the Infinity Field Memorial that John Brodak constructed to honor modelers who have passed. An American flag and a Pennsylvania state flag fly over the memorial. A granite stone with a picture of a PT-22 is on the site with brass placques containing the names of the modelers.
I thought I would list them.

Around 2:30 pm, Elwyn and I went to eat at Hartley's Inn on the Square, in downtown Carmichael's. There are parking meter's on the streetside which do not work. The waitress told us that the meter keeper quit his job years ago, and was never replaced, It would cost too much to remove the meters, so the town just left them there. Elwyn says that the turkey and swiss with french fries is good. I like their western omlette made with eggbeaters.
I got sidetracked, and never went to watch the Clown race,
It got late, we got tired, and returned to the scenic Super 8 in Waynesburg, and retired for the night.
