BOM Question
« on: July 23, 2013, 02:28:17 PM »
Last year I purchased a Brodak Oriental ARF.  I flew it with an FP 35 and it was a great aerobatic performer.  Unfortunately this spring I had a brain fart and I planted it nose first into the ground at a high rate of speed.  The fuselage, motor mounts and tail sections were a total loss.  Amazingly the wing survived without a single piece of broken balsa. (Apparently the Chinese have great building skills.)  I stripped the wing of covering and leftover fuse parts.  I then purchased a set of Oriental plans from Brodak. I have now scratch built a new plane around the surviving wing.  The wing is now covered with Polyspan.  I will be painting the entire plane next week.

I plan on taking this plane to Arizona next year and flying it at the VSC.  My questions is, will this plane meet the requirements of the Builder of the Model rules or will it be considered non qualified because I did not actually build the wing?

VSC is a great, fun time and glad that you can make it.  But alas, the BOM rules
state that to be the builder of the model must install all controls in the wing which
includes the top and bottom center section sheeting of the wing.  The builder must
also do all the wing, tail and engine alignment. You will be able to fly but will not
be given any appearance points. You may want to take this up with Mr. Hoffman
as he is in charge of VSC now. If you want appearance points build the model. RJ
