Got my Sob in the mail and have one wing done very easy so far and the instructions look straight forward so this should be a quick build.

quick until you get to the control installation....they are a little more tricky

too much fun tho... I have been through 3 of them already.......you forget you have a limited fual capacity when you "fly" them

Yes ever since I first read about these things in Flying Models I wondered about the controls, I'll take my time at that point to get them right, thanks again and if I need any help I still have the mag and you good folks to ask.

You should expect it to fly slow. It'll be fun. Just fly it around and do the tricks you know.

Better tell him to just get out of the road as Jim Lee told me one year in Tulsa.  Nothing like watching a plane go inverted from takeoff without rolling the wheels.  He was trying to beat Marvin Denny in the air at the time on the same circle.  What a show they put on.   DOC Hollidayquote]

Mine pulls hard on the ground and has a couple of hops and then it is airborn. It just slowly cruises around the circle. When you go to do your first loop be careful because you might just get hooked and not flyanything else for the rest of the day.

I think if you took all the offset off the engine and played with the cg it would fly like a regular model.

Jim Lee and Marvin are great Slob fliers.

I like to go into a Sabre Dance right from the take off roll. Then climb up and down the ladder. I also like to back it down, land on the tail and take off again...yes you can do it!  It is rough on the elevator though.  As with my good friend, and great "Slob",  Joe Gilbert, keep everything LOW!

In the East, Dan Banjock is one of the great "Slobs" He is the first that I flew Double Slob with.. we would Sabre dance in unison, close together and low... lot's of fun. 

Here in the south central area, Joe, Marvin and I have tripled.. even greater fun.

I would say that at first get the engine (Fox 35) in a good 4-stroke run. That will actually be too fast, but for the first flight you will need to feel it out. As you get more use to it, keep on richening the mixture. How rich?? Basically you need enough power to take off!

I find that if you fly a few laps straight an level, it will be moving too fast for the spectacularly slow wingovers/ hovering etc. A tight loop will fix that and kill off airspeed.

I guess the Slob is a backwards plane--the more you fly and get use to it, the more likely that you are going to smack it in some type of crazy maneuver.

If your airplane sits on a puddle of oil after you have cleaned it three times you might be a Sloboholic.

Leroy; That one takes the cake. I was out flying yersterday and the temp was about 50 deg. By the time I put about 8 flights on the Slob it was loaded with oil, or more like sticky goo at that point. Castor don't come off easy at 50 deg. let alone 30.
