These are F4's

The designation for fighters is pretty easy F=fighter A=attack B=bomber and so on. Not sure but the prop job is a AD skyraider

Yea he worked on the A-6. Just had to put a few F4 in the mix. The F4 was the first plane I heard break the speed of sound. Well the only plane for me. 😊

  Hey Sparky;
   There is one of that variant of the Skyraider out at Creve Coure Airport, if you are ever that far north. The current Monogram/Revell 1/48 scale kit is of this particular airplane. It's done in the overall dark blue paint scheme. I love the AD!! Especially the single seat gray version that had the bumble bee sliding down the lightning bolt on the vertical stab and dorsal fin! Another airplane on the long list of "gonna build one of those one of these days" airplanes.

  Hey Ty;
   I have a brother Terry who did 6 years as a nuke propulsion engineer on a nuke attack sub. Ask anyone like him who would go submerged for weeks or months at a time about precious fresh water!! He was on the USS Trepang, which has since been decommissioned and scrapped, but they are supposed to have some of the command stations and control stations on exhibit at the Smithsonian. Terry has visited it, and he says that they don't look like what he remembered them as!
   As much as I like air planes, hats off to the Submariners! Dem guys is crazy!

I was on CV 64 and CVN 65 in VF211 and VF 1

Thought VF211 rang a bell... VF211 was attached to the USS Hancock when I was in VA216 aboard her during the Vietnam war. They were flying F8's which I hated to be on the flight deck with. They were either trying to suck you in the intake or blow you over the side.

In 68 we were on Yankee Station off Vietnam and one of the Conny's phantoms had lost hydraulics and had no langing gear. Our job was to rescue pilots that were shot down or ditched....I remember getting geared up and ready in the boat, watching as the pilot made the landing! Slickest think I ever saw, the ship was doing 30+ knots into the wind and they foamed the deck...there was a cable netting in place to catch the plane to stop it from going in the drink. Swells were 12'....that rascal put her down like a butterfly!

Still in love the F4 ... saved my bacon once ... The A1-s flew most of our close air support.  Never had A6-s flying support. Guess that had to do with T A O R.
