The monicote only comes off in small strips. How do I remove?

Remove the remaining glue with acetone on a paper towel. Wipe, repeat!

Good luck, Jerry

PS: I have better luck with a #10 exacto. Less nicks.

David,

These wings, ARF R/C Spitfire, weren't covered with a quality iron on like Monokote, so I would guess Monokote would be easier to remove? A guess.

First time I removed an ARF covering and as it was said, I used a #11 blade also and just took my time.

Plenty of really tiny pieces but eventually they were all gone.

I cleaned the wing up with Acetone also. It does the job.

Not too shabby when done and, in my case, well worth the effort.

Good luck.

I got a clue somewhere in this forum some years ago, and it WORKED! #^

I set my razor plane for a minimum cut and just carved the 'Kote off. Naturally, with a bizzare technique like this it was tried on a not an especially valuable plane. But it came out fine! Probably less balsa lost than a final sanding!

Good luck!  H^^
