Balsa
« on: April 05, 2018, 07:49:51 PM »
With hobby shops closing where is everyone getting their balsa for projects these days? There was a Hobby Town here in the Lakeland area but, that appears to have closed. The Sig online dealer locator isn't much help.

Attached is a pic of a Twister I built in the early eighties. It's now owned by my pal Steve Kott. I didn't remember that I had added the half ribs or changed the fin. I do remember I made the stab and elevator 20 inches.

This subject seems to come up frequently.

I just ordered a bunch of balsa right here from Stunthanger Hobby.

It comes directly from Tom Morris.  Quick delivery, well packaged, nice quality.  Light and straight.  He weighed every piece and recorded the weight on the wood.

Looks like I have to put an order list together.

My wife and I are planning on stopping by the CL event in Palmetto on Sunday. Anyone on this forum planning on being there?

I’ll be there.
I have seen the light, and it’s powered by a lipo.

Basically a lot of places to shop...but sadly not many LHS or the now long gone Lone Star balsa

Hell I even found a good selection one day with wife at a Jo Anns fabrick / crafts store in Austin Texas
