I drove down to Auburn today to see if anyone was flying. Really nice day but no one but me, I didn't bring anything to fly ,mainly just wanted out of the house, I've been down for 9 days with various bugs, germs. I don't know what Arlington will be this year ,haven't been up there since early January.  I might be forced into driving to Auburn to fly this year I don't know.     John

What's the difference in distance and time for you, John? When I was going to Arlington, I'd leave at 6am and be there in an hour or a bit less...50 miles, I think. But the trip home in the afternoon was just brutal. Getting onto I-5 southbound at Smokey Point was a major PITA, so I often opted for Hwy.9. At least I could keep the wheels turning that way. Traffic sux unless you're really early or late.  '' Steve

Hi  Steve, today with the traffic clear it took 36 minutes to leave my house & get off hwy 167, normally it's a lot longer because the traffic so bad on I-405 & 167. Both ways. Going to Arlington I leave my place around 11:00am then leave Arlington about 2:15 pm the traffic flows both ways, going through Bellevue isn't fun .

John, I went by Scobee Field yesterday afternoon and found the gate we go in is currently disabled. I don't know if it's just broken or if it has anything to do with the FAA/NTSB investigation going on there of the KOMO 4 helicopter wreckage. Probably just broken. I didn't look for another automatic entry gate, but could still get in the old way. Maybe Pete Ferguson or Mike Haverly know more about this, since they flew last Saturday. I'm getting the bug to go fishing...  8) Steve

Sorry you missed us John , Mike H and I were out last Saturday with his new plane putting on its maiden flight. the weather was almost perfect. The plane was pretty nice too. I drive by the Airport lots of nice days (when we have them) only to see the tarmac empty. Surprising how many inactive club members we have. It really takes an event to draw people out. I've been a proponent of more Fun Flys to do just that.

In regards to the south automatic gate I believe it is closed for repair. The south manual gate works fine and there are automatic gates north of the maintenance facility (1 in and 1 out) and at the main terminal, just keep close to the hangars when you drive to the south end of the field..
