Arkansa Traveler oddity!

Hello Everyone,
  At long last I have managed to afford a really good McCoy 60 red head sparker. This has always been intended to power an Arkansas Traveler. The plan that I have is described as a plane intended for the McCoy 60. I have built a couple of scaled down versions for the 49 and 29 and never once noticed that the plan shows what looks like a McCOy 60, but with the exhaust on the opposite side to that of the McCoy!
  Can anybody tell me if this is an error in the drawing or did it have some other engine rather than the McCoy? Most references to the Arkansas Traveler mentions the McCoy 60 as the power plant of choice!

At one point in time the McCoy 60 was offered that way, most likely to make it look like the rest of the engines of that era. Since the front plate and rear plate were removable. most were simply turned around for more power.

That had occurred to me, but if you do that, then the timing is not as it should be and I would expect the power output to decrease. I did that to an old Enya once and although it ran quite well, it did lose some power! Maybe the timing on a McCoy is such that there is no noticeable loss in power?

Not any authority here, however changing Backplate and front plate on those engines so made has worked well for me.  I was certainly unhappy when Supertigre stopped doing so.

Here is a picture of an RC machine that used two Como .60s, but got damaged due to my basic stupidity doing something I always tell others to never do. It will fly again.  The Como that was turned around was almost 1000 RPM better than the other.

On a sparker, right now I have no idea about adjusting timing there. Never tried it. There are those here that do know.

Unless a McCoy has a desaxe cylinder I would expect the timing to be the same either way round? And of course, even then the difference may not be all that noticeable, vide when HP turned a 60 desaxe c/case around to get a front intake.

                                 My thought train was revolving around front intake engines, The McCoy is a rear rotor intake...........................Take 100 lines and stand in the corner with the Dunces cap on!
  Anyone know a local hobby shop that sells 10 x 10 props and 2 1/4 diameter grass cutter wheels is my next question!!!!!!!
