Anyone Flying at Delta Park Tomorrow (4-8-11)?
« on: April 07, 2011, 08:07:53 PM »
The weather report says partly cloudy, low chance of precip, and low to moderate winds.  I'm going to be meeting in close-in SE until 11:00, so I can probably get to the circle at 11:30 or so -- if someone's going to be there.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Hi Tim,

There should be several of our club members there on Friday, including at least three of us half-A enthusiasts.

I don't usually get there before 1000, but would be happy to help, if you need assistance.

Hey Tim,
Bill is another guy that will loan you a chair. Have him show you over to Tammy's Hobby Shop. He took me there and I picked up a few items.

I had forgotten that every spring I tend to crash planes -- I suffer from allergies, and they slow me down more than I think.  That, coupled with lack of practice, tends to lead to unscheduled landings.

Fortunately it's repairable, and I have a backup plane for next weekend.

No, wait -- it's not just allergies!  I was coming down with a cold!  Oh good -- this means I'm not totally incompetent.  Hopefully I'll be over it before the contest.

Either that, or -- I realized this morning that the only times I've ever damaged that Waiex in a crash is when Richard Entwistle and the Northwest Fireballs Club Mascot are watching.  I don't know if it's Richard or the dog, but I think one of them is giving my plane the evil eye when I'm in the air.

The problem may be that the dog probably hasn't christened your plane yet, LL~ LL~ LL~  Yes, I have seen dogs christen planes just like they do trees and fire hydrants. H^^

Randy,
Know what you mean.  I did get out and got a few flights in on the new Gypsy.  A bit breezy but had to get some flights in before heading down next weekend.  this week doesn't look a lot better but there might be a small window for flying on Monday and Wednesday.  At least I know she flies alright.  Got some minor trim issues that I'd like to get taken care of.

Well, I was going to fly today but with the wind howling at 20+ I decided against it.

A bunch of us flew at "TMF" in Sumner on Saturday, about 10am to 1pm. It wasn't great, but it was flyable. I flew 2 flights, Pete flew several with the Venus,  Mike flew his Chizzler and Shrike a couple flights each, and Rodney showed up to fly Mike's O+ several flights. You could have been squeezed in ok. Pete Ferguson showed up on his new BMW scooter, but no planes, and a couple of (pending) retreads spectating, Brian Mace and Jerry Fisk. Ted might remember Brian. It was fun!  ~> Steve

So, Steve, are you going to come to Portland?  I know it's a foreign country and all that, but I could use some of your tactful advice.  I don't suppose Mr. Rutherford will be there and someone has to take over. If, on the other hand, he or you do show up, I will buy or supply dinner for either or both. You may have to eat my cooking, but it ain't Dennys.

Steve,

Man, I tried at TNA, but it was really going there. Waited around for awhile then just gave up.

The weather report for Portland next weekend isn't encouraging. Can you say rain?

I'm not going to Portland. Have fun, and hope you get good weather for the weekend.

As for me, I gotta save up for Regionals, WCSC, and Perry Fire (I hope). I won't be working much longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Late April or early May, depending on when and how badly they irritate me. Maybe tomorrow, who knows?   LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~  Steve

So, is anyone going to be flying at Delta Park this weekend?

I'll probably go, but I'll be prepared to just stand around and hangar fly.

Yea, the current weather report is partly sunny and a balmy 53°. Humidity should be right at the "is it raining?" level.

Portland weather (from an old lifelong resident, not me).  "If you can't see Mount Hood, it's raining.  I you can see Mount Hood, it's going to rain."  Probably a pretty good forecast for Spring, not so good in the Summer.   For myself, I think Mr. Helmick should carpool with Mr. Rutherford and drive down to sunny Oregon for the weekend.  It's going to rain in the Seattle area.

As much as I hate to, I will be forced to abstain from making the trip to Portland. I was really looking forward to a good weekend. Unfortunately I find myself not able to make it. Well next stop Eugene in May.

He is really in bad shape, muich worse than his normal pain etc. he is on  a morphine drip and is now house bound with a walker and wheel chair in the house.  Dave too is really upset at not being able to attend the Portland scene.  I will be seeing him at his home next week and will advise on his condition then.
