AMA Survey
« on: February 28, 2007, 09:14:05 AM »
The AMA is taking a member interest  survey. They sent invitations out on a random basis to members that they had an email address for.  If you did not receive a request from them click this link and fill it out showing your interest in Control Line.  It is important that the AMA hear from us that Control Line is still alive and well.  Also please stress in your answers that you value the NATIONALS and contests in general.  The AMA feels that contest modelers are such a small part of the hobby now that they are loosing importance in the hobby.

Is this one supposed to be legitimate?  I have found nothing on the main site regarding it.  DOC Holliday

Yes Doc it is legitimate.  I was one of the recipients to receive the survey request.

I was very upset over the way it was written.  I sent an Email to my Dist. V.P. complaining about the way the survey was written.

The first question was do you fly FF,CL,or RC.

Next question was what events in RC do you participate in.

Never another question about FF, or CL.

I feel the survey is worth taking the time to complete. There are several places where you can enter comments- I used these to let them know I fly C/L and feel that I am under represented by the current AMA plan. If you don't inform them of you interest - how can you complain that they don't support your aspect of the hobby.

Ditto Bill. I feel the same way.

I also let them know  I do 99% CL and 1% RC, indicating I'm not 100% biased!   mw~  LL~

The reason they go after RC is that there is no money in CL.. They have to attract the money market, that is the reason for Credit card offers. They would hope to reel you into paying finance charges so that the staff can get paid. With the on line magazine you will only see CL adds and not RC stuff. The subscription pays only a very small part of the revenue needed to run a magazine. That is the reason for selling plans,CD's,advertising, credit card offers and anything else they can dream up to generate money.

With me I do not do this for a living so I don't need all that stuff. It's a second hobby for me.

Sparky,

i wish i had the time to spend that you commit to this site, and be able to call it a hobby!  Paying the bills and sending Mos for all the stuff I find in the classifieds here and on SSW/E-bay means that I have to work / travel about 300+ days a year.

You are an inspiration to us all, anyone that can hold down a full time job ( one that has plenty of opportunities for " side work" ), maintain this top notch site, develop an on-line magazine, and still find time to build the awesome planes you do - well all i can say is - You da MAN!!

I often wonder if i had kept my '58 Servi-car 45"flat-head if I would only fly 1/2A so i could put them in the box and putt to the field!

You have my thanks and gratitude for all you do for us.
