A quick note
« on: June 14, 2013, 03:33:34 PM »
Looks like the surgery was a success and as of now all nerve pain is gone. I do have some bursitis in my hips but the back pain seems to be gone.

Thanks Duke....shouldnt be too much longer and I can try to get something back in the air.  Now I have to find someone with good knees in the club who can launch me.  That is kind of a joke in the club...WHO HAS THE GOOD KNEES?

And don't overdo it! I usually limit myself to 3 flights a day, unless I have plenty of "sittin' in the chair in the shade time" to rest up and maybe catch a z or two.

Most of us start our planes while standing, then set them down just before release. Except the 'lectric guys, of course. And we use some sort of kneeling pad. I like my "Tommy" gel pad, 'cause it folds up and goes into my hip pocket.  y1 Steve

Steve that is great advice and I will take it.  I just want to start slow and go at my own pace.  I will get plenty of that shade time in the chair believe me.  I thought I was cured and did too much yesterday and am paying for it today with a lot of soreness.  It is going to take a while to get my stamina back.  I am planning on doing  a lot of walking as I heal and as my body will tolerate.  Also I have a wife who watches me like a hawk if I get out of line before I should....I have been called down several times already.  mw~ mw~ mw~ mw~ mw~ mw~ mw~

Now you know why I fly with a stooge most of the time.  I'm one of the few with good enough knees to launch.

Hey Big Bear, we may have to coach him on the stance I was taught during football days.  You know the one on the line when you are ready to flatten your opponent so you can get the QB or runner.  I probably look silly doing it, but that is the stance I use for launching some planes.   And then sometimes I do like someone else I have seen.   Since the plane is usually outside the flying zone for most. I sit down.   Once plane is released I just roll to the outside of the circle.  As long as the pilot stays above 3 feet I am okay even if he doesn't move to the pilot circle.
