A letter from Keith Renecle
« on: September 18, 2007, 05:51:31 AM »
Hi Robert,

I hope that you are well and continuing to build those stunning models of yours.
Thanks for the work that you do on the website. I did not notice before that the CL
Sim on your site was the one without the clover. Someone left me a personal message
asking if I had updated it yet. I did this in 2005, with the clover that is
geometrically correct. The rules (AMA and FAI) describe a mixture of different
things that clash with each other, so I did this clover as per the geometry of
spheres. This version has been on Igor Burger's site for some time. My apologies for
not noticing this before. Here are the links for the newer verison plus the updated
manual:

www.slovanet.sk/orsia/CL_Sim_manual_June_05.doc
www.slovanet.sk/orsia/CL_Sim_1-0.exe

Igor and myself have been asked by Peter Germann to find a way around the problems
in the rules without drastic changes, and this is what we are doing right now. I
will then start working on a new sim program. Keep well.

Regards,
Keith Renecle

I will update the SIM ASAP. but until then please use the links in this thread.

I liked the triangles best...very much like Howard's, last Sunday. I don't know what Leo didn't like about them, tho.  LL~  I do wish we had a flying site that was as flat as the ones the rule books have, tho.  S?P

I downloaded the sim and found I had to hit the 'esc' key to make it go away. Right clicking didn't help. Don't panic!  H^^ Steve

Hey Doug,
How old is your 'puter? Sounds like you either have a slow processor, not enough memory, or a very slow video card. Works just fine on all of our machines.

Doug,

Go to the "Control Panel" - click on "Display" - the "Display Properties" window appears. Click on "Settings" - Under "Colour Quality" change the setting to "16 Bit".  If your monitor is not already set to a Display Resolution of 1024 X 768 then set it to that as well. Click "Apply" This should speed things up a bit.

Kim.
