Here is a Fairchild, don't know much about it as I could not find the pilot. Also, a nice PT23. He gave a lot of rides at $75.00 a throw.

Looks like a model 24. They came in radial and inline engined versions.

Yeah Elwyn; I do not know what the difference is between the 23 and 24, but he did have a large poster with all the specks on it, and it did say PT 23. Boy, there were some great sounding old radials there. I did not get a picture of it, but there was an old Meyers bipe with a 5 cyl. Kinner engine also. Those things sound like they are idling when they take off. Just do not turn up very many rpm's.

The 24 is the Fairchild cabin monoplane. I had forgotten the trainer also came in a more common inline engined version which was the PT-19. The Kinner powered ship sounds like a Meyers OTW which stood for "Out to Win". They used one in the movie "The Misfits" and I think that particular plane is still on the U S Register.

Well, that explains it. Yes, the Meyers was the OTW. I did not know that OTW stood for "Out To Win". I think it is owned by someone in the area, as I have seen it before at another flyin a few years ago. They had great weather, as this was the first day in a long time without wind.
